There's a BBC2 Sunday night show. It's a revamped and improved car show. Big Budget, international star presenters, star guests. Everything possible thrown at it.

Then there's a youtube video shot on an iPhone of Jeremy Clarkson goofing around trying to put a DHL box together.

One gets 1.6 million viewers. The other 1.7 million.

I'd be amazed if the BBC order another series.

more bad news for Chris Evans fans ?

< Top Gear presenter Chris Evans has come under the spotlight over historical sex abuse allegations and is reportedly facing a police investigation into the matter.

According an article published by Heat Street on Saturday, Evans is due to be spoken to “in the near future” by Metropolitan Police after a former colleague lodged a sexual offence claim against him.

The allegations first came to light in May, with various reports stating that the presenter had repeatedly exposed himself to the complainant and grabbed her breasts.

Despite the allegations, the BBC star presented his Radio 2 breakfast show as usual this morning.>
So, the Police haven't actually even SPOKEN to him yet and this is in the public domain?

Seems like Evans is in a no-win situation. If the accuser is lying, he won't be able to sue her for fear of looking vindictive and if she isn't, well, he's screwed...

It's a shame that strags like the Daily Nazi aren't sued out of existence for publishing such unsubstantiated allegations...

Still, Evans was always a crap choice to present Top Gear (or anything else on TV)

It's also a pity that certain coppers can't hold their water and just have to blab.

...Or at least cut its budget massively. (I assume the budget is more dependant on international sales rather than local viewing figures though).

what else could he do they lost a massive part of the old audience some of us have watched Top Gear long before Clarkson, Hammond and May and this latest version was just awful despite some who continued to watch it.

It was me adding him to the Celebrity Deadpool 2016 thread that pushed him over the edge. Clearly.

And now he's also under investigation for alleged historic sexual assault. Not a good week for him,

Fair play to him, we will probably never know the full story but this hopefully means Top Gear can thrive in the future. The crew certainly don't deserve to be out of work, it's still a beautifully shot show full of passion for cars.

Looking forward to the next series (I was, anyway, but more so now), hopefully with Reid and Harris pulled into the limelight and MLB still doing his thing. I think a road trip with Harris, Reid and LeBlanc has plenty of potential once they've gelled.

is there a link between the two I wonder? or is because he is the biggest reason people would not watch it

I watched it anyway, but that was more because of Harris/Leblanc and the still excellent top gear cinematography team.

Good to see Evans is off, now they need to quickly set up a new core group and have a few good specials to have them bond, i say ship Harris/MLB/Reid off to China with some pocket change and have them ride the length of the great wall or something.

Do you reckon they could become as close knit as Clarkson, Hammond and May? scratchchin

I wonder if this is the point it gets quietly dropped?

Surely no one else is brave enough to want to host it now?

Also did he quit, or was he pushed?

I have only watched about 3 of the new series, but the star in a car bit is painful IMO. It just doesn't work anymore, the changes they've made, and Chris Evans doing it just makes it feel laboured, where it used to be a great little segment.

I saw last night's and that studio bit right at the end, with them all lined up and Eddie Jordon being his stiff self, just showed how awful the chemistry is between them all. It's just awkward.

Will Evans' departure cure it,,,i am not so sure.

Evans gone!

I thought he would stick it out for at least another run, but he has gone.

I hope this gives the show less baggage now and a chance for a fresher format.
