And on the same day that Nigel Farage quits? A coincidence? I think not. Farage is basically Clarkson in a suit. Welcome to Top Gear, Nige.Evans just isn't humble enough. No humility whatsoever.
That doesn't work on a show which regularly involves teams working together on challenges.
It's uncomfortable to watch for viewers as they will naturally be inclined to want to see a bond/camaraderie, even when they're competing against each other.
There's a requirement for ribbing and piss-taking in a show like TG but it would come across as bullying behaviour if Evans partook in that as he's so insular/aloof.
As much of an obnoxious buffoon as Clarkson could be, I don't think he every came across as anything but a friend to May and Hammond, and very much part of the team.

And now he's also under investigation for alleged historic sexual assault. Not a good week for him,http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/top-gear-host...
And it was getting better - last night's show - the mustangs in Scotland - absolutely fantastic scenery captured. That was a great piece in its own right.
The updated classic cars, that was good - even Chris came across really well, that overcooking it bit, that was a packer ass puckering moment, and it came across really really well. Seriously it was starting to find its feet. Stating to show promise. But then here we are again with an uncertainty. Damn. I want top gear to succeed. so much now that it almost hurts.
BBC dont you dare let it die.
Just dont.

Chris Evans' hysterical, look-at-me approach seemed to me so wrong. I think he and the BBC over-engineered Top Gear to tick boxes; coloured guy-yep, female - yep, US co-host - yep, keep re-usable bits from old show - yep, get knowledgable auto journo - yep. The parts of the new show didn't mesh well. Sabine to me is dull - 0k, girl power, get that, but what can she tell us apart from making passengers puke, and queening it up as Ring-mistress?
Calm down Chris Harris somewhat, give Le Blanc some freedom and inject Sabine with a personality and we might have something. Just my two cents.

And bin off SIARPC if they cant line up anyone 'faous' and/or at the very least make it a lot shorter and lose the awful reading the autocue bit.Chebble said:
Is it too little, too Late?
Can top gear be Saved? Need to go back to roots IMO, start again with some fresh faces and ideas and without the burden of expectation that it must be a huge success. Bad as evans was (and not aplogising for his wkery he was fking terrible) perhaps a lot of presenters would have failed here.

I wonder if this is the point it gets quietly dropped?
Surely no one else is brave enough to want to host it now?
Also did he quit, or was he pushed?
I doubt they need to get anyone extra in though. I can imagine Jordan and Schmidt being quietly dropped and it resting on the three remaining blokes, although the last Extra Gear seemed to show signs of issues between Rory and Harris which I guess can either be made to work well for TV or not.Surely no one else is brave enough to want to host it now?

Now that really is excellent news!
I can guarantee the ratings next time around will be up by one, at least...
