At the end of the day,he had ago people he had a target on his back from day one.It was easy for people, to attack his performance on the net and social sites.
He is safe will move,on not got any money problems still working.

Couldn't agree more. Stairway To Heaven/Layla/Freebird/Ace of Spades and repeat. Constantly.
Such a shame team rock was pulled from the radio frown

It was the only decent radio station.

Evans is so bad that he may even be worse than 'Grimmy' (a man with no discernible talent or charm).

Like I said: Planet Rock, Radio X, The Arrow, even Absolute Radio. ANYTHING is better than CE. Trouble is, what is available on FM radio these days? Some of us live in fringe reception areas & don't have DAB in the car, so its BBC national radio, music streamed from iPod/phone, CD, or nowt.....

Even Evans couldn't fail in that plum job.
How he got the job is a fking mystery, I can only think he has some serious dirt on the BBC director general.
You do realise that he added nearly 2m extra listeners vs. Wogan, don't you?

I know it's fashionable to hate Evans - but he does have a very strong track record, especially in radio.
Evans is benefitting massively from Nick Grimshaw being universally unloved on R1, his figures have gone up by the same amount Grimmy's have gone down. If you judge success as gaining listeners then Evans was a failure when he did R2 afternoons.

He also likes to get his cock out in public.
I've got to agree. I listen to R2 on the commute as its the least worst option.

I used to prefer Evans to Wogan when he first took over the slot. Nowadays I just cannot listen to him - probably because of the 07:30 car crash radio segment with kids more than anything else. I find Sam & Amy on GEM 106 far more palatable

If you think Evans is bad just listen to Annabel Port on Absolute. Huge sections of prime air time on daft phone calls she's wasted people's time on and not much else (well none). How on earth do these people get the jobs??

I didn't think CE was too bad on Radio 2, bearable at least. Then again the choice on FM is pretty limited down here.

James Martin??????
Have the BBC totally lost their way or is the casting department a bunch of fruitcases it's 'let's panic and find someone random no one can relate to'
Jamie Oliver would be better for a start if they want a cookery theme. At least he has character.

Is this the same BBC who have explicitly said he won't be replaced?

I'd go with that before getting in a tizz about something that papers have said to get you in a tizz over to improve circulation

If DAB actually had proper coverage in a car, I'd listen to Shaun Keaveny on 6-Music. As it doesn't, I just download podcasts and listen to those instead.

I would guess that the vast majority of BBC execs live in the city, therefore don't drive and are less likely to have any interest in cars. I'm sure Evans got the gig entirely because somebody in the BBC knew he has that Ferrari collection. To a non-car person that makes it looks like he's into cars.

I imagine high level BBC Top Gear meetings have akin to your grandad assuming you know loads about computers because he's seen you using your iPad.

When Grimmy started doing the Radio 1 Breakfast Show was when I stopped listening to Radio 1. I gave him a go for a week or so, but he was just so vacuous and rubbish that I couldn't stand him. I'd have much preferred Scott Mills, who although isn't the sharpest tool in the box at least has an adorkable charm about him. Or maybe it's just me. But I digress.

So had Evans - Although, incredibly, Oliver is the one I'd punch repeatedly in the face first!

In a strange quirk of fate, I used to enjoy Evans on Radio 2 but, since watching TG, I can no longer listen to him.
C'est la vie, Chris.

Thinking about it, when he started presenting Top Gear is about the time when I started to listen to GEM 106 in the mornings wobble

Same for me. When Grimmy took over the figures dropped but they span it along the lines that it was OK as the loss was the over 20s and that Radio 1 was all about the youth market now.

You can see how they have 'dumbed down' their content to reflect this new direction. Mills must be due for the chop soon (or a move to R2) as he is now 'old' and the audience wont be able to 'connect' with him or some nonsense.

Yeah I was the same, gave him a month. Was gutted when Moyles left and used to listen to R1 whenever in the car or had it on in the background in the house. I actually did not mind Grimmy when he replaced Colin Murray for the later show as he played more new music. When he took over the earlies the show just became daft and a bit cringe.

Now have a mix of R5L and R6 depending on the time of the day. I still listen to the R1 dance shows at the gym though.

I gave X a listen when Moyles when back but the adverts did my head in.

Yeah, same here. The adverts are too frequent and go on too long. yes

Also the replacement for 'Comedy Dave' (confusingly also called Dave) isn't as good.
