Evans is old news (except insofar as the lasting damage he has done to the show - there's a clue!). Your question is off topic. Now talk about the show going forward or fk off and stop 'polluting the thread'.

Jesus, could you two get a room? Nobody gives a flying toss about your petty little tit-for-tat war against each other. All it does is pollute the thread.
I disagree Jon. I think it's highly entertaining. The chap is a lunatic. Plus, it looks like we are moving into Ricky Gervaise being the root of all evil now.

Maybe, just maybe, a MLB / Jenson Button combo could turn this show around?
That depends on whether or not they try a second time to keep the old formula going with new faces. That being the case then Jenson is as wrong as Chris Evans. The thought process for choosing both of them is the same ie. at a superficial level they seem a good fit.Jenson is a likeable guy, but he's too professional for the light-entertainment side of TG. Plus we've already seen that it doesn't need two racing drivers, so why add a third (assuming Sabine gets asked back)?
Plus, Jenson was only in the frame initially because Chris Evans wanted him (and we all know how good his judgement was regarding show production).
Ultimately though he has bigger fish to fry. If he looks like he's in the market for a TV contract then I reckon Sky and Fuji TV will be in a battle for his signature.

PS. I did mention that MLB has signed on for a new sit-com which premieres in the US at the end of October. I'm reckoning it's 50:50 he'll even want to come back to TG. Less if his new show takes off.
Evans burned the budget and damaged future revenues for Top Gear, so I doubt the BBC could afford to have MLB back now even if they wanted to as one thing we can be fairly certain of is that the spending going forward for TG will be cut drastically.
I'm anticipating a 'back-to-basics' show with Harris and Rory at the helm along with another newcomer. What have they got to lose trying that approach, because even if it only matches the viewing figures of the last series it'll still be ahead financially compared to this year's fiasco.

In all seriousness. We know Button because we follow F1.
There are millions out there who aren't fully aware of his dry, sardonic wit and easy charm. Couple that with platinum driving credentials and I believe, given a format that plays to his and MLB's strengths & a decent pool of writers, TG may yet be saved.

Personally reckon it would be a chance for a clean break for TG if the BBC moved away from the concept that the show must be fronted by celebrities. The cars are the stars, the photography too, OK so the presenters if they're any good may become celebrities in their own right, but that's irrelevant at this stage. They need something to make a step change away from old TG.

Very good point. It would also be a good opportunity for new talent to come through. Let's not forget that the 3 who used to front it were not celebrities until the show made them such. Blib said:

Are either of them good writers?I was recently reading an article by Jeremy Clarkson and he said he often asks what you need to succeed in the business. He said it was a love of writing, not a love of cars. If you read his car reviews they are mostly about something else.
TG was a car based entertainment show. It was successful because it was entertaining. That came from good writing and a set of presenters that worked well together. Knowing about cars, or even being a good driver is secondary.
