I doubt the BBC will ever cancel Top Gear as such, they will just reduce its budget to reflect its viewing figures and international sales and it will go back to being a niche show hidden in the schedules.

Which may be better for us enthusiasts.

(Relatedly: The Times scored The Grand Tour 2 Stars from 5, due it having too much motorcar content).

Seems that Evans was commissioned to write a book called Top Fear, a year on, about bringing Top Gear back to life.
It's been shelved.

I think that was to have been the title of said book.

The BBC could not afford to buy the GT
They could still do a decent TG for much less money but will never please all the people all the time

They could do a decent one without having to go for talentless people like Evans.

Not as easy as they thought it would be.

The problem is the BBC approach to programming seems to be two bags. One with shows in the other with presenters names. First they pick a show out, then a presenter. The idea then gets put on social media and they see if it gets traction. Watch any of the features on the one show and you'll know what I mean:- Nadia from the bake off..... with a 5 minute feature on.... (rustles the bag).... First World War poets. Cut to Nadia sitting on the sofa with a cake that looks like a poppy.
Old top gear was dead before fisticuffs gate. Just look at all the comments that used to be on here. Chris Evans was always going to struggle being a very marmite type personality (so are the old tg trio though).
TG needs a total rethink now and maybe a break for a few years. It will never reach the heights of the past, but a doubt that gt will either.

Dunsfold being redeveloped for 1800 new homes.

Wonder if they will get another track somewhere?

No more Wings & Wheels on that basis. Close to me Wisley Airfield is also under threat to be turned into a housing estate but unlike Dunsfold it's not been used for ages.

They'd better get the surrounding roads sorted. Or, once you arrive at your new home, you'll never be able to leave because of the traffic.

Part of the development must provide affordable housing, the committee said.

There will also need to be a health centre on site, public open spaces and sports facilities as a condition of the development being allowed.
All boxes ticked! What cut do the BBC get? (Rhetorical question BTW).

I was going to say, the infrastructure around there is severly lacking for that many new houses.
