I just thinks it's a bit petty of you that's all. wink

At least try to watch a couple with some semblance of objectivity rather than seeking confirmation from PH / internet.

I just find it an odd stand to take. No offence meant.

Chris Evans - so far dire, hyper and shouty
Matt Le Blanc - very good
Sabine Schmidt - not enough to know. Why wasn't she in the studio

SIARPC replacement - catastrophically bad. They need someone who can interview. Studio voting? WTF?
Challenge - felt like a third rate rehash of past challenges. Felt stale

I think they actually needed to completely rethink the format not tweak it with new people.

I had low expectations and, with the exception of MLB, they failed to meet them.

I assume this is a reply to me?

I hear what you say but I really, really can't stand CE and unfortunately as a result won't watch 5 minutes.

I don't listen to him on the radio and won't watch any of his other shows.

If I did watch it I'd be biased already however it's interesting the other thread I started to confirm either way if the PH clan enjoyed the show, it appears the majority didn't.

I'll say it again, the BBC have the wrong presenter/s, had the opportunity to show the license payer just how creative they can be and they've missed the boat.

Instead, the £ figures from the existing TG brand around the world will have been right at the forefront of the production meetings with cries of it can't be changed as the BEEB would lose valuable revenue.

It's all about money at the end of the day yes

Drop them an email HoHoHo. I'm sure they'd be really interested to hear what somebody who didn't see the show thinks about the show.

Another Nay sayer here I am afraid. I thought I would give it a go but came away deflated.

I like the bad covers band analogy somebody posted earlier, except this covers band is very slick and polished yet they are not even playing the hits, they are playing filler, the B sides.

Carrying on with the format created by Clarkson and Willman is a poor decision. If they had gone for a new format, I think people would have cut them a lot of slack. I think I will just watch Extra Gear instead, its okay-ish.

So, Danny Baker got a writing credit for the new series! Another typical Evans move - putting his pals on the payroll, and knowing that the program is syndicated that'll do Baker's pension fund no end of good.

I'm surprised he didn't get Timmy Mallet a credit too.

Autoblog review of the show. http://www.autoblog.com/2016/05/30/new-top-gear-fi...

Evans is the big problem, the rest is fixable.
MLB is good.
Bits of the main show should have been cut (Reliant part 1) and Extra Gear brought into the main show (building the rallycross circuit to introduce that before the celebrity laps).
More Harris/Sabine/Rory, less Evans.

I pretty much agree with that.

And yet you can't stay away from a thread about one of his shows.
In fairness, this thread is more amusing that his latest show.

I've just watched it and whilst with Clarkson, Hammond & May, with the exception of the SITRPC section which I could take or leave unless it was an interesting guest, I would find myself watching the programme and would very rarely look away from the screen. They always seemed to have little hidden comedy and brilliant snapshots/references in the segments, but they seem to be missing from this series and whilst I've watched it, I've been doing so whilst on the laptop. It just hasn't drawn me in like the original, but it's a car show on the TV so I'll be sticking it on each Sunday.

there's a tangible insincerity to (Evans') behavior.
For someone reviewing the show with no previous knowledge or experience of Chris Evans' work that is a fairly damning indictment. They got his number immediately.

I tried Extra Gear and genuinely said out loud 'Oh for fk's sake' when Evans was there, I just cannot get past his style, it just doesn't work for me. Sad to say I binned it after five minutes.

Why does Chris Evans think he's some sort of magic bullet to recover or reinvigorate tired programmes?
Edited that for you.

It'll come out in the wash. Evans tweeting viewing stats like a Sun reader commentard is just the beginning.
Let's see if he's as quick to tweet next week's figures...

I have a feeling they'll only drop from here and the BBC will finally have the excuse it's been looking for to drop TG completely.

Have just watch it and, CE is only on for the first few minutes, phew! Must say it was far more enjoyable than the actual show, especially with the absence of CE. Thought 'tothers came across OK and will watch again next week.

I'd be surprised if the BBC would want to drop top gear, they make loads of cash from it.

I wanted to like it... Because I like car programs.

But honestly, I didn't enjoy it.

More telling was the fact that my girlfriend, who doesn't really have that much of an interest in cars, loved Top Gear previously and has actually cried with laughter at some of their antics, also sat and watched it, but walked off after 20 minutes complaining that "it was terrible".

Just watched it.
Evans is an annoying t*** and he is just particularly annoying.
MLB is sardonic but he will grow into it but he needs a foil and Evans isn't it, indeed, Evans summed himself up in a comment about the Viper "As cutting edge as a rusty crowbar" because if he isn't a fashion victim, nobody is.

As for Sabine, she has always got up my nose and listening to her saying "I feel the neet, the neet for speet" just confirmed how grating she is.

Didn't realise Harris and Rory had been demoted to an X factor style B show whichIi can't be arsed to watch.

I will continue to watch for the photography. A lot of the content was OK but Jason Whotsisface was by far the one with the most personality of anyone. He'd be good as he knows nothing. Ramsay just came across a a rich dhead.

Oh and the whole "escape from the paparazzi" bit in the Nomad? A little bit too close to Princess Di to be amusing?

Overall, Evans is the weakest link...goodbye.

But that was the OLD show, can't see them making much from this garbage IMHO,

It was not as bad as I expected. For a first episode it was ok, I think there needs to be a better bond between presenters (which should come with time) to remove that wooden/scripted feel.

I agree, the weeping brainwashed Clarkson fans can be quite funny.
