Question. Our son has moved into a house which only has a dish, no terrestrial aerial.

He doesn't want Sky or free sat, is there any way of decoding the sky reception so he can watch terrestrial channels.

Or do you need to subscribe to sky to do that?

Or is the only way is a cheepo free sat box.

If you are asking can he plug the co-ax into the back of the telly then no. He'll need a decoder so unless the telly has one built in then there's no option other than buying a freesat decoder. He could get a second hand Sky box from e-bay and that will provide basic channels without having to subscribe to Sky.

He didn't have it his flat before, played games mostly and watched the odd programme on ITV. Now he has his own house, thought he would plug in the TV then realised it only had a dish.

Guess it's a used box, or cheepo one from Amazon. Thought I would ask as I wasn't too sure of the answer.
