I've been watching the whole series and think its very well done. I've never seen the original Police Squad series, but love Naked Gun when I was a kit. My wife on the other hand has never seen Naked Gun and to be honest isn't much good with the more 'thinking' type of comedy and she just doesn't get it.
All that being said, maybe I just watch it for Angie

It's not my fault, I'm only young, I shall try to find it on Amazon or something.
YouTube is your friend. It's 1 series, 6 episodes."Is this some kind of bust?" ... "Yes it's very impressive, but we're here to ask you some questions"
"Married, one child. That didn't work out, so he divorced her and married a grown woman"
"You're not the man I married"... "how can you say that?" (opens random cupboard to reveal man crouched within) "because this is the man I married"
etc.
I defy you to watch even one and not conclude that Angie Tribeca is a shameless copy.
If you're not old enough to have seen the original series of Police Squad it's brilliant.
If you are then it's ok but it's been done before. Saying that it does have it's moments and the pilot episode had a bout half the cast of Burn Notice in it.
Sledge Hammer was very good in 1987 and largely written by Tino Insana who worked on Police Squad.
Also look out for The Good Guys, written by the aforementioned Burn Notice writer Matt Nix. Not really a spoof but very funny.

Its an enjoyable enough show, but like has been said already, it is just rehashing all the jokes from Police Squad! but for a newer generation. The first episode seemed a bit off as it appeared to just cram in loads of jokes as if to say "HEY! WE'RE JUST LIKE POLICE SQUAD! SEE!", but it calmed down a bit for the second episode and flowed better. Third (the art one) barely drew a chuckle from me, but episode four was back on track again.
We've had the classic freeze-frame gag where the woman escaped the two cops, we just need another where someone is pouring coffee. Oh, and the opening sequence amuses me, the screaming guy riffing off the music from CSI opening sequences.

It's wonderfully daft and I preferred Leslie Nielsen's take.
Also his performance and the many references to him in ' Due South '
Benton Fraser: Geiger was an escaped convict sworn to vengeance on a legendary Mountie who bore an uncanny resemblance to the Canadian actor and comedian, Leslie Nielsen.
Robert Fraser's ghost: Who has yet to receive the Order of Canada.
Benton Fraser: Long overdue.
