No just a question, how do you get permission to blast through central London like that?
No idea but if you find out or get it I wouldn't mind ago!r11co said:
That's not going to happen. Evans is incapable or unwilling to re-invent himself. Re-inforcing that point, once again he devises a faux-competition on his radio show this morning - England 'v' Wales in music. How topical, but exactly the same schtick he trots out annually during the Six Nations Rugby, even down to the artists and songs.
I've not listened to CE on R2 for a while now as in general he started to get on my nerves. But I always thought he was ok when interviewing people (mainly on friday mornings when he'd have a few people in the studio). He was certainly less shouty and annoying than he is on TG at the moment so he has it in him to be a better presenter.Have to agree with everyone else though, episode 3 was miles better than 1 and 2. For me it didn't feel like any of it was completely pointless (like the reliant thing). KB drifting around London is entertaining (if you like that sort of thing) and the other sections all had reason imho. The format with more presenters definitely works.
If it were me, I'd keep CE for the interviews (but make them a bit more informative as I believe CE could if he wanted to), MLB for the "entertaining" features and the other guest presenters for the informative stuff. I'd also ensure it wasn't just about supercars each week (e3 was good as it included the hot hatch section). One thing I would also occasionally add it some kind of motorsport feature to introduce people to series they might not have seen before (eg a presenter trying some kind of club racing, DTM, Nascar whatever...)

It seems that you are a quite a big follower of Evans. You have listened him for years even though you clearly can't stand him.
Just guessing but do you have pictures of him on your walls to remind you how much you love to hate him?
And maybe a slightly unhealthy love / attraction to a former host - enjoying a show without him doesn't make you unfaithful! Just guessing but do you have pictures of him on your walls to remind you how much you love to hate him?

Well that would be bizarre behaviour if he does.Just guessing but do you have pictures of him on your walls to remind you how much you love to hate him?
Personally I keep my pictures of Evans in a large scrap book, with the eyes scratched out, like normal people do.
On the walls, FFS.
I caught up with episode 3 last night and I'd watched the first episode and thought it was dire but thoroughly enjoyed episode 3 and I wished they had launched with that episode.
Still not watched episode 2 yet but I decided to watch episode 3 based on the positive posts on here about it.

Agreed when he isn't in a big barn full of people he gets quieter, but twice in the space of a week now I've heard his interviewees get on the verge of exasperation with him for asking inane questions tagged on to the end of his latest brain-fart.Alan Shearer told Evans his idea for motivating England players was 'stupid', and then this morning Toby Smith was wondering how to respond to Evans asking him if he had 'researched fleas' for his latest film role, bearing in mind the movie in question is based on adult fairy tales and has no basis in fact which Toby had mentioned not a moment earlier.
I'm not even willing to concede that Evans is a great interviewer as every interview he conducts has to include a mention of an idea he has come up with.
His nadir of course was his last interview with Adele (google it!)
I enjoyed last night's episode, Evans didn't bother me too much.
I'm digging MLB more and more as a presenter as well.
CH still looks like he isn't in his element if he isn't in a powersliding car, the studio work with him feels a little bit forced>
SS should really get the stig treatment imho. I'm not a native English speaker myself and trying to understand her is tiring from time to time. A presenter should be easy to listen to and she isn't despite her English being very good.
The old racer's parts were cringeworthy (the spoons) but that's probably down to writing.
I did enjoy a motorcycle in TG, and showing some of the pitfalls that might bring. On the other hand, they did show most of the negatives while only briefly mention some possible positives.

Enjoyed last night far more than previous episodes. Thought Rory Reid's Tesla review was excellent, and asked some genuine questions about the future of driving. Challenge was hit and miss, mostly because they never really explained why they were doing it. I know the old TG challenges weren't always perfect, but there was generally an underlying reason for doing them, even if it was as daft as a pub argument. There was nothing in last night's to really hook on to as a viewer. Having different nationalities on the show ought to open up some new ideas, given the motoring culture differences, perhaps adding that degree of tension that seems to be missing. Even something as obvious as "make Brit choose a German car and German choose a British car" would've livened things up.
It's improving, but that's definitely in spite of rather than because of Chris Evans

I haven't watched the last two episodes but the consensus seems to be that it's improving yet apparently the viewing figures are still falling. Something strikes me as rather odd about this.
Well all those who don't like it are the ones not watching any more, the ones left are (presumably) enjoying it so the reviews are coming in based on that? I don't have hard & fast thoughts but, having in the past been an avid watcher, until it started to get stale, I watched Ep 1 of this series and that has been it.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
