I didn't enjoy this weeks as much as last weeks.
What was wrong with Chris Harris? He'd had one too many coffees or REALLY liked that M2! The F Type SVR feature was nice but it's all so fake - like a car that's just drive 750 miles from England to Geneva would roll in sparkling clean, plus if it really was that tight there's no way he'd be hanging around for the film boys to do rolling shots...
I have a feeling that during the E10S piece, Chris Evans drove the parts where he was speaking and was on camera, but the parts where the car was drifting and doing interesting things, I think it was a different driver wearing the same hat. We never actually got to see Evans doing anything but driving in a straight line. Just a thought...

Just wish he'd stop using "man" as punctuation. Otherwise he's great. He and Harris could easily carry it. The rest are useless.
He's young and that's just how we speak.'Man' isn't too bad (Hammond used to use it), but the shouting scruffy ginger oik's use of 'baby' really grates. Like some poor impersonation of Austin Powers' English.
I notice that the words 'Top Gear' are now being spoken in the American manner, with stress on the wrong word - a bit like the way the colonials cannot pronounce 'Robin Hood' or 'Benny Hill' correctly.
What is this odd thing they do with fists nowadays rather than shaking hands?

So whatever happens I suspect CE is probably doomed as the whining, petulant ones just can't take things at face value and enjoy. I suspect that too many feel that TV mustn't be cheerful and must reflect the doom and gloom of Eastenders or feel there is a need to vote off a presenter, its sad that TV has got to this!
The use of the word "MAN" is just embarrassing to be fair and although unlike some, who will hook on to any little thing to complain about, I had chosen to ignore it and other things and enjoy the show for what it is - but as it's been raised by others I thought I may as well comment.
I for one have enjoyed this series of "Top Gear" from its uneasy first episode through to where we are now, I have enjoyed the mix of presenters and what each has bought, even if all is not to my taste and I don't feel any have stood out for good or bad reasons, in truth MLB was better than I feared (but I was prepared to give him the chance) but have not found him any better than the others and long term maybe could become a bit dour, mush as CH also has limitations and why I like the mix. This is the first series in a long time where I have watched every show all the way through on the first night of airing. The only slight change to that was (I think) number two as I watched on a delayed start due to the F1 race.
Maybe one of the few, but then I had no additional agenda and lets face it, it is not the first time or will it be the last that the masses spoil things!

Just catching up with this week's episode.
Xenos test was dull
First Rolls Royce bit was alright.
M2 test was fun, but agree that Harris had either had too many Red Bulls or had wired up that helmet the wrong way.
LOVED the Jaguar test and subsequent interview with the Jaguar test driver - I'd rather they'd made it twice as long, made a bit more out of the trip, and cut one of the other segments.
Second Rolls Royce bit was alright. Minimal Evans.
Skipped SIARCC as normal.

MLB was good, again, with the Rolls Royce
Chris Harris is Rik Mayall ! What's the matter with him ?! Good review of the M2 / RS3 though and it made me happy.
Rory Reid - can't help thinking he should be presenting Blue Peter but knows his stuff and the Jag / Norman segment was very good.
Nice to hear Dropkick Murphys.
2nd part of the Rolls Royce segment was a bit pointless leading to the question;
What is Chris Evans actually for ?
He's annoying, condescending, smug and sounds like he's addressing every remark, every joke to the under four's !
Having allegedly driven to the exhaust sound off and arriving with condensation steaming out of the exhaust is Hollywood production value failure 001.

I don't understand the falling asleep comments, or general negativity any more. Episode one was a disaster, but since then its improved- a lot.
Completely agree and the first episode was utter garbage yet just by fast forwarding siarpc I've enjoyed the other episodes a lot. cerb4.5lee said:

I think he's been told to make it more "fun" - which clearly isn't his thing
He's missing something but he's still better than most
To make the others look good ?
My opinion after watching all episodes up to date.....
Evans it a complete bell end, shouty, far too excitable and generally irritating. He needs to go and by the sounds of it LeBlanc has said the same.
LeBlanc isn't as bad as I imagined and quite good at it.
E Jordan? WTF. Go to a retirement home.
Overall the show is "watchable" but nowhere near as good as it was with JC etc
I thin that the show should have taken a whole new direction and not copied the old format as the banter between the old 3 was good and seemed to roll off their tongues rather than reading a script as the new lot obviously are.
Looking forward to the Amazon show TBH

what i like about the more recent episodes is how MLB is making fun of evans more and more he has grown from the fairly wooden delivery of episode 1 to listening to evans deliver his lines with a similar face to most of us at home then says something like 'glad thats over lets continue...'
unlike old top gear where clarkson was the top dog evans seems to be more tolerated by those around him
overall the show is entertaining, it should be with the budget and subject but while this evans mockery is amusing do feel they need to switch evan out longer term

I have watched all the episodes so far, it is not as good as the original but not bad. Chris Evans is the weakest link. MLB is good along Sabine Schmitt and Chris Harris. The celebs in the Rally cross mini are rubbish. If CE was ditched next series would be better.
Like SS more than I thought I would and agree with the rest of your post.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
