Thank God for Dave

Evans is too shouty, LeBlanc was OK.

Have a read of this: the thread on the first episode of the 2002 series.

Very similar thoughts to now... I say give it time.
Have you actually read any of the posts from that link? Most people seemed to enjoy it.
The new TG is getting slated left right and centre (mainly for Chris's attempt at copying Clarkson which was a terrible mistake by the BBC) , with just a handful of floppy cock liberals saying it was OK.

Chris Evans is way too shouty and irritating. Matt has a lot of potential and was great to watch when not forcing himself to be jovial with Evans.

I really hope they drop Evans and bring Sabrine and Harris into the limelight with Matt.

Main show 6/10 - Has potential.
Extra Gear 9/10 - Could easily have been on BBC2 instead of the main show.

Thought it was okay. I don't mind Chris Evans but thought he grated a bit here. Almost seemed like he wanted to be really over excitable but was holding back. Thought Matt le Blanc was surprisingly good, much better than I thought he would be. The Gordon Ramsay/Jesse whatsisface bit was just irritating.

I can see they're playing it safe here, I just hope they don't start doing Clarksons irritating routine of smashing up perfectly good cars, then pretending it was an accident.

Overall, a tad disappointed, byt it was mostly watchable, will give a few more episodes.

Gave it half an hour.

Got bored and fed up with the scripted attitude of it. Just too forced and fake.

Chris is a poor presenter, trying to be Clarkson instead of his own stamp on things.

Even the audience looked bored and underwhelmed with it.
Remember the audience have been waiting years to get on the show with Jeremy, James and Richard and now it's their turn to be in the studio for filming this is what they've got. It's like being on the waiting list for a Ferrari for years and finally being handed the keys to a replica that's actually a Peugeot underneath.

Chris Evans is like a school teacher trying to jolly everyone along in some sort of stilted school party activity.

He went from saying in the media how he was in charge and he was going to revamp it to saying some of the best ideas could be carried over from the old show to saying there was no need to change the format of the old show. I honestly never expected the show to be completely copied.

I'm not suggesting that the show could have carried on with Jeremy Clarkson given the situation but the only people who seem to be saying Top Gear is better without him are the Jeremy Clarkson haters who never watched the show before and won't watch the new one after today's episode. They just want to believe it's better than it was with Clarkson, have no idea what made the old show entertaining to so many people and won't let the truth get in the way of what they want to believe. When it gets cancelled they'll be telling us in their PC way that it's because people aren't interested in cars any more and we should have Top Bicycle or Top Bus Route instead.

I started watching it with an open mind being fully prepared to like this and still watch The Grand Tour when it starts. I'm disappointed and irritated by the blatant copying and complete lack of originality, creativity and imagination. The old show seemed hashed together but there was a special talent, not obvious at the time, in making it seem that way whilst working and being entertaining.

Chris Evans is not a guy I warm to. However I enjoyed tonight's episode and I will watch more. It's the BBC's format so I thought it was fine that they used it. They changed it a bit in an interesting way and they will probably change it a bit more. I thought that it was less childish than Clarkson & Co. Who I will also watch because I like them too.

There is always something not to like and I would rather they had ditched the Reliants and just charged up the hill in the Jeep and Landie.

I thought Matt would be better off as the main host as he seemed quite charismatic. What held it back in my opinion was that the script writers gave Evans stuff that would suit Clarkson's delivery, but it just didn't work with someone else saying it.

It was OK.. Nothing too spectacular.

LeBlanc and Evans lack chemistry and Evans certainly is very shouty.. Nothing like as natural as his previous TV shows..

However, LeBlanc on his own in the Nomad was quite good and the RallyCross idea was good for the Stars in the Reasonably Priced Car malarkey.. In fact the off-road section could have been made bigger in my opinion..

Overall, without giving it too much of a bashing, it shows how good the chemistry between May, Clarkson and Hammond is.. That really is what has made TopGear, TopGear..

All in all, a bit flat ..

Lose Chris Evans and TG would go from 4/10 to about 7/10. LeBlanc was okay, although still annoying.

Currently watching Extra Gear, Rory Reid comes across so well and good content too, worth a watch and much better than the main show!

It's the first episode. Clarkson and Co had years to perfect their formula so I'm not writing this off just yet.

Just make it a car show and feature Chris Harris on reviews and i'll be happy smile

Was rather like old top gear.......but just not as good.

The dialogue just didn't flow the same - it felt rehearsed and forced in a way that TG with Clarkson, May and Hammond didn't. Evans was far too shouty.

Evans and LeBlanc have no chemistry - maybe it'll come with time, but I somehow doubt it.
This, in a nutshell. Still enjoyed bits of it - the cars can still be awesome and the filming so good, but still suffers from the 'run out of ideas' / samey aspect that the older version was beginning to suffer from. SIARPC still crap imho. LeBlanc not bad and may warm into it more, but... Evans. God he is annoying. Just stop trying to manufacture excitement and enthusiasm by shouting, you prat.

I can't stand Chris Evans, at all. I gave it a chance, managed the hour(just) I still can't stand Chris Evans. I thought Matt Leblanc was very good though, if he was the main presenter it'd be a much better show.
I didn't like the forced chemistry, made it almost awkward to watch, what I really liked about the old Top Gear was that they were obviously very good friends having genuine fun.
Also I found that I can't stand Chris Evans.
I'll probably still watch it next week, might give it the full season before deciding if I will watch the next one, if that happens.

Just watched Top and Extra Gear.

Joey was surprisingly good and he got a few laughs too. I don't mind Chris Evans but it all felt a bit forced and I'm not sure that he'll ever be the big personality that the show needs, it's not meant to be Don't Forget Your Toothbrush! I hope that he gets better with time.
The Reliant sketch and the Blackpool jeep tug o war was absolute ste, they desperately need to get some decent ideas.
The Dodge Viper bit was better and Chris did OK explaining downforce etc. Sabine is still a great driver but not as easy on the eye as I remembered. The off-road track and rally cross JCW Mini was an interesting idea. The Nomad piece was the highlight of the show with some camerawork that typified TG of old, that said there were too many references to Old Top Gear, time to move on already.
The surprise for me was Extra Gear, Rory is a natural and Chris Harris is great,he looks like a maniac,a decent driver and a proper car bloke.

All in all I enjoyed the show and will be tuning in regularly in future

Liked a lot of it but as has been mentioned before, unfortunately not funny. Reminds me of roan Atkinson in black adder 1 when it was cringeworthy. Unfortunately I don't think a new writer can save this as Chris Evans who is a very successful media personality Didn't gel for this. Matt did. Don't need chandler though. Chris needs to relax, not be mr winner whilst failing, and just be Chris. The ingredients are there but the execution needs a LOT of work.

6/10 please apply yourselves!

Turned off, not good to watch.

CE annoying, MLB American.....

I must be the only one that does not like Sabine, can't understand the attraction and consider the same as always brash and loud.

Not looking good for the show.
