I love Big Bang Theory but the last series has seemed a bit 'Meh'. Its done all the geek jokes and now its getting a bit serious (relatively). I can't help thinking it's had its time.

Also, Suits was superb but it finished and that should be that but they are trying to resurrect it even though there's really no sensible way back.

Obviously the main one is The Simpsons.

I am such a huge fan of The Simpsons but I only really mean I am a huge fan of the Simpsons up until about 2005. Maybe 2007, anything since they made the movie isn't as good.

I am well aware that the best episodes were the ones from the 90s.

It needs to stop, it really does. It makes me sad how poor some of the new episodes are, when I know how great it is.

Agree on Big Bang Theory. Great show, but there has to be a conclusion to it soon.

"Not Going Out"

I don't know a single person who has ever watched it, I think I watched 5 seconds of an episode a few years ago and that was enough for me. I don't know who keeps re-newing it.

Dexter. Could have quite easily ended 3 seasons earlier.

Also, and I know this goes against the grain, but The Sopranos. This could have been reduced by 2 or 3 seasons' worth of episodes. I found quite a few episodes involved spats between minor characters who I didn't really care about or never heard of again. Also, they killed Tony's mum off way too early. She was fantastic. biggrin

I don't see it as a must watch, but it has made me chuckle and I've had it on more than once.

Friends.

Season 9/10 were awful. All the subtlety was gone.

Just read the actors from Big Bang Theory get paid between $500,000 and $1m each per episode. Kunal Nayyar earnt $20m last year.

yes, the show nets the TV company enough that the cast have negotiated themselves a decent chunk of that revenue!

Fun fact - I was born in the same hospital as Kunal Nayyar, albeit 3 years later than him. He was born in Hammersmith....

I thought it was very funny, a lot of the time. It did lose a bit when Tim Vine left, but there were some very funny episodes. There were also some seriously duff ones. Probably quite hard to get much of an idea of how good it could be in five seconds, though. I recall that it wasn't going to be renewed after the first series (the one with Christine Dale from Spooks in it), but something happened and the BBC changed their mind, and it went a bit "Men Behaving Badly", in that after a shaky start it got a lot more popular. I thought it had gone now, having resolved the will-they, won't-they aspect of the show, and Lee Mack said he's too busy to do any more.

I don't think Suits finished and was resurrected - as far as I read, they were working on the next series before the last of the current one went out, in the UK at least. That's not to say it's obvious where it will go, but at least they've gone out on a limb a bit - it would have been easier to keep creating situations where the secret almost gets out but is saved at the last moment.

Scrubs. Actually not renewed by NBC after season 7, picked up by someone else for a dire budget-reduced season 8 then a car-crash season 9 with barely any of the original cast or writers.

Sons of Anarchy all got very silly for the last few seasons.

Burn Notice - billed as the antidote to spy shows with a huge degree of actual realism thrown in, eg, cars don't explode if you hit the fuel tank and a person with a nine round 9mm only has a 20% chance of hitting you at 50 yards. It started brilliantly and was very entertaining in a laid back, funny, knowing and James Garner type fashion for the first three seasons. After that all the original questions were answered and the writers kept creating dafter twists to keep it relevant eventually becoming tedious in season 6 and very dark in season 7 and just not enjoyable anymore, thus completely missing the original point.

Lost.

Homeland. Spoilers>>>>>>>>> Would have been absolutely epic as a one series show with Damian Lewis blowing himself up at the end of S1.

The X Files, I was looking forward to the resurrected series, watched 5 minutes then deleted the series link from the planner.

I love Suits and would like to see more, but considering how it ended, I'm not sure where they can take it next. However, they've done it before, so I am hopeful.
