Now I'm wondering about the Azor Ahai theory.
Apparently Azor has a greatsword that took him a couple of attempts and a few stabbings to forge, then he named it Lightbringer. I wonder if the TV show is going to have Jon Snow break his sword and then Samwell gives him Heartsbane? Or potentially both swords are broken and then reforged creating Lightbringer.
Difficult to tell how and what they will use out of the books and, even then, how they will tweak it to fit the show storyline....
ETA - Heartsbane must have a part to play in this; they've made a point of showing Sam stealing it and lugging it around last episode.
In the story, Azor created Lightbringer by stabbing his wife through the heart. Will JOn kill Ghost or Danny or Sansa this way, in an insane attempt to fulfil the prophecy?Apparently Azor has a greatsword that took him a couple of attempts and a few stabbings to forge, then he named it Lightbringer. The King in the North! One of the banner men was talking about Jon Snow being the white wolf is it a saying in the North? Or is it specifically referring to ghost?
The Starks sigil is a black wolf, he's Jon 'Snow' and winter is here, so they'll use a White Wolf sigil. I guess.Just found this --> "In Westeros, bds who take up their house banners must reverse the colors of their true born family's sigil. This custom is meant to "break" the sigil as well as signal the man's bd status, acknowledging that they're in an uneasy legal state between full nobleman and simple commoner."

Makes sense since that Targayran bd reversed the colours, way back.Just found this --> "In Westeros, bds who take up their house banners must reverse the colors of their true born family's sigil. The witch did tell the young Cersei (First scene in the first episode of Season 5) that she would be queen, but she would also be usurped by a younger queen soon after. I am guessing that must be Daenerys.
She was already queen, then Maergery became queen. It could happen again I guess. I think we'll see some manoeuvres towards the Iron Throne by others who'll say Cersei has no claim and it should be theirs due to being a cousin or nephew of whoever. 4x4Tyke said:

At first I did wonder why the Knights of the Vale pledged to Jon Snow over Sansa Stark. However she did play the vulnerable and guileless girl to perfection with them in the inquest into Lady Lysa's death. The consequence would be to reinforce their patrilineal assumption.
Me too, that's one of my disappointments. I fully expected them to declare Sansa Queen of the North as living heir. Wonder what will happen when Bran's found to be alive?

Nice call on the Dorne and Tyrell banners in the fleet, I missed that!!!
It was brilliantly done ali_kat said:
It was a fking excellent episode
Exactly, pretty much, as I wanted it bar a couple of disappointments but... The rest of it more than made up for it
Score was amazing
Varys & Lady Tyrell seem to travel in time
And how quickly did the news of the Tyrell deaths get to Dorne? It's not like anyone in KL with Ravens was left to really think to send them a note

No
Her reaction to Tommen was strange
I think she wrote Tommen off when he sided with the High Sparrow and stcanned her. She's turned inwards on herself. Her reaction to Tommen was strange
My disappointments - Sansa not being named Queen of the North. No Ghost STILL. Not seeing Lady Tyrell meet Dany

Heartsbane?
Jon & Sam's swords are valaryan steel, and as such kill the WW (& the 4 Night Kings?) which is why I think attention was drawn to it.I don't recall Lightbringer being forged from valaryan, none of the histories mention that either, just that it was forged from steel and burns radiating with heat

Bran?
Yes. Not sure how his disability would affect his eligibility, or ability to sire an heir. I think there is also more than just friendship between Bran and Meera, I know not the biggest obstacle to a political marriage. Presumable his return to Winterfell in the next season will stir things up somewhat.AndrewEH1 said:

Jon is turning out to be pretty sexist in his behaviour and I think that will bite him in the arse, given he hasn't learnt his lesson.
Did I miss something? Jon Snow seemed very keen to support Sansa to be Queen of the North, but realistically the north wants a King.Watch them when talking, he interrupts her a lot, could be a big brother thing, I guess we'll find out next season when he meets all those powerful southern women.
I think I kind of expect him to do what Sam did when Jon was made Lord Commander, deflect it towards Sansa. At a minimum give her the opportunity to speak at the Northern war council thing. I feel he works best as a character when he is reluctant to step up to the next level and is forced to by circumstances to be more.
