Always 2 questions.

1) How did the deserter get south of the wall?
2) How was Ranger Benjen allowed to leave the wall and go south to Winterfell?

Same way Sam and Gilly did, and Bran got north, disused castle?

Theoretically speaking - is there anything to stop Bran warging into one of Dany's Dragons?

Probably, Benjen said he was a tough bloke a true ranger, probably knows dozens of ways.
Compare him to the utterly clueless Rast we meet him in ep2... biggrin

I thought that was what the ridiculous tree-man was hinting at when he said "you'll never walk again...but you'll fly".

He'll probably fk it up though, like everything, and just leave the blonde girl with a retarded dragon that can only squawk "hold the door" and not shoot any flames.

I hate that stupid kid and would happily push him out another tower.

I think you're over complicating things. Castle Black and all the other castles are built on the south of the wall. He wouldn't need to cross the wall to desert.

He was North of the wall on patrol so he had to cross back to go south.

Claims that next season launch will be later as "winter is here" in the plot arc, so having to wait for lousy weather for filming. OK, but thought it was all smoke and mirrors these days on the sets. Or was it just a slow news day so they made up some bollards?
