If you've played the odd PC strategy game (I think it's either Cossacks or Sid Meier's Gettysburg that seared it in to my brain) there's a generic horse whinny that's used literally every time a horse appears on a movie, which now I'm tuned in to I hear every time.

They did? I've spend the last 30 years being amazed that the world's only identical octuplets were just the right age when they decided they were going to make the film!

No one ever has money worries unless the film/tv show is specifically about that.

Sure lets just go out and buy a new one...

The door opening effect is used in a lot of sci fi films as well

Frog ribbits are very well known, even though only a few species make that noise, as is the hooting Owl. Another one is a knife or sword making a metal on metal "shing" noise when it is drawn from a leather or cloth sheath

There's various stock sound effects burned into my brain from the playing far too much of second elder scrolls game, daggerfall, in my youth, They still stand out a mile when I hear them in films an TV shows now, in particular various animal noises and creaky doors

The heroes have 1,000,000 bullets fired at them. They all miss. Except for one which hits our hero's shoulder and is just a flesh wound.

The heroes' bullets NEVER miss. And every hit is fatal.

Oh - and computers that make telex machine noises every time the screen displays text.

Depending on the film, I like this. If you watch some of John Woo's hong kong stuff they're firing tens of thousands of shots, but only need to reload when it's time for a cool slo-mo of the clip being changed.

Also, in complete contrast to todays sanitised one-shot kills, if Chow Jun Fat has just shot you in a John Woo movie, you're getting ten rounds to the chest, minimum!

The inverse ninja rule does annoy me but sadly I think it is a necessary evil. I think under seige 2 is an example of why it is needed- bad guy demonstrates how badass he is on several occasions in the film, yet when Steven Segal finally gets to fight him he's a walkover!

It's one of my favourite moments in a Segal film, mainly becuase when i watched it with my uncle he said "They won't let him eat anything in the kitchen until he kills the bad guy".

Also worth pointing out it repeats the one shot twice and another shot 3 or 4 times to make it seem longer. hehe
