I see hunting game animals (deer, etc) for meat very differently to killing preadtors for fun.

...

On topic, I assume the programme explored the motivation for the women who kill lions, otherwise it would seem a rather pointless show...

In my youth I did work experience on an estate. It was pretty much deer stalking and fishing. Everything caught was caught for food, with the estate selling it on to stores and restaurants. What did strike me, was that the people paying huge amounts of money to go there, were only interested in the hunting part.

So there was a greater purpose to the whole operation, but the guys trying to do the actual killing were purely there for pleasure.
At least the meat is used and the animals are partly there to be meat.

I guess you can make a similar argument in favour of buffalo/Elk hunting or antelope, etc in wild herds where the numbers are similar.

Personally, I don't see what pleasure anyone can derive from killing something (OK, maybe Chris Evans and Donald Trump would be a service! biggrin), but at least if you kill something and it's eaten it's not a senseless kill (I'm sure many vegetarians would challenge that view of course).

I wouldn't resort to hate mail to such people, but, equally, I'd not want to count them amongst my friends...

If I was in love with a woman who hunted, I might be able to compartmentalise it, but I certainly wouldn't agree with it or support it. I can see the fun of stalking a wild creature, I just don't really see why there's any benefit in killing it...

Firstly I find hunting for sport or for 'trophies' a bit abhorrent.

However, pest/vermin control, or hunting for food are all well and good.

Yet, the thrust of this programme was that female hunters are somehow worse than male hunters. Why?

Surely in the 21st C such ideas about 'women's place' are outdated, outmoded, and completely unaccptable.

Saw the trailer and decided it covered the program pretty well so didn't bother to watch it as it looked pretty foul. They got all they deserved.
Pretty much. Scum.
I've seen them before on fb, when they tried to parade their 'pastime' and reaped the whirlwind.

Indeed, that is an unacceptable (nah, daft!) position to take.

It's like suggesting we'd never have another war if we had a woman PM!
