New HBO mini series, started here Sunday night. Very promising start, good tight story line, Riz Ahmed and John Turturro have the key roles. It's based on the BBC mini series Criminal Justice starring Ben Wishaw from 2008. Unlike the execrable Gracepoint (Broadchurch re make) is looks like the Americans have done a good job adapting it.

On Episode 7 as of last night. At first I thought it was a little generic and obvious, I am glad to have been proven wrong. I have enjoyed watching the kid go through such a dramatic change and have my earlier doubts this was going to be a run of the mill case. Nice to see Michael K Williams in there, I loved him in Hap and Leonard (And The Wire of course). I just bluted ooh it's Omar just from his shadow. Poor dude will always be known as Omar to me.

On a side note, episode 5 through 7 have seen me develop a psychosomatic itchy feet syndrome. smile

One more to go, this Sunday.

The most shocking think I got from episode 7 is the value of a NYC Taxi Medallion. yikes

I've enjoyed this from the start as well. Quality drama, and Turturro always rewards.

Binged on the rest of this over the weekend. Great series.. Terrifically well acted by John Turturro and Riz Ahmed.. The physical and mental transformation Naz goes through was really well done.

Q for those who have watched it.

I generally like to record all and binge... especially if it's a complicated intricate plot.

Should I do that or does it work as a weekly? (Like Homeland / GOT / etc... )

Works either way IMO.

I am really enjoying this, great to see 'Omar' from The Wire in it.
However I really wish they would stop showing close ups of Turturros manky feet, feet make me squeamish at the best of times.

Just binged watched this over the weekend too. Superb! Completely agree about the physical and mental transformation of Nazir - brilliantly done!

Anyone else think the opening credits reminded them of True Detective? In fact, this whole show is an excellent mix of True Detective, The Killing and Shawshank!

We need more of these kind of shows!

Not sure what all of the fuss is about TBH.

Technically very good but a little contrived story wise for me and not anything I haven't seen done before many times. Seemed to drag quite often too.

And the Turturo eczema thing was rather gimmicky and over used I thought. Felt like an idea that had been pinched from a Cohen brothers movie.

Up to episode 5 and I'm gripped.

But I don't know why. It is shot fantastically, great acting and characters.

He must have done it, surely?

If so, what's it all about?

Box found his inhaler on the bed at the flat - gave it back to nasir without putting it in evidence.

When the police were searching nasirs house, box found the condoms in the rucksack and hid them again.

What's the story with her step dad? The argument at the funeral?

Very confused.

Ended up watching it in two evenings. Thought 2 hours could have been chopped out of the middle. Enjoyed it though.

All the stuff with the lawyer's bad skin and the victim's cat didn't really seem to serve any purpose other than padding it all out to me.

Also, if Nas had stabbed her 22 times then surely he would have been covered in blood when he woke up. You could see when they cleared the room there was blood spray everywhere.

I did enjoy it though.

Good entertainment. One of the better offerings on TV at the moment. Really enjoyed it.
