Could have explained a little better what they had to start with.

And lol at the woman in the website with no bra.

I was hoping this would be more about the survival. Half an hour in and a lot has been done. I hope the rest of series isn't just arguing.

More like Castaway revisited.

I enjoyed Castaway, both series one and two.
Tech has moved on and they all have cams now.

Disagree.

Upper-middle class 'Yoga instructor' obviously joined for some hippy notion of sitting on a beach watching sunsets and being at one with the universe. Not having to sustain yourself and plan for the worst - which is actually what the Rowing/Adventurer chap is doing.

That said, entire bunch are your usual reality TV cliched wannabes. Life coach? What the hell is that?

Worth watching the next episode as I can see the wheels falling off very quickly.

That's what I thought too. He takes resources, goes off alone and then has a tantrum because people invade his space? Chosen because he's a special fkwit I suppose.
Instantly disliked that carpenter, but then relented somewhat.

There are enough lovely faces to view... biggrin

Was I wrong to give up after 20 minutes of viewing?

I had been advised to give it a go by a mate, he happens to know one of the participants.

However, whilst there are some nice faces to enjoy, the overall theme of the show was quickly apparent to me that I wouldn't enjoy it.

People cooped up together, and then they have to make some collective decisions that not everyone is happy with, so we get a camera piece from them saying why they aren't happy with the rest of the group's decision. Standard.

However, the early marketing I saw for the show a while ago, the whole "build a new society" type thing, well, they aren't, are they? They're just building a new place to live and get to know new people for a year (if they last) in which they will undoubtedly all make collective decisions which mean having a council and/or elections about things, just like we do in current society.

I fall on this side as well. Rowing coach has the best ideas and probably would have been more than happy to work as a team (he's an adventure leader and a rowing coach, for goodness sake) if the others hadn't been running round like kids at a holiday camp. Remember we only got to see about, what, 10mins or program per real week?

I thought the carpenter would be the one to throw his toys out of the pram but he seems to be pretty level-headed and came across well in the 2nd half of the program.

I also see the wheels coming off this very quickly when things get 'hard'. They certainly seem to have been well 'set up' with food and supplies at the start.

I was, however, very sorry to see the goat die because they didn't secure the tool shed (where the rowing instructor was staying - perhaps he was blamed and it wasn't shown, leading to him disliking it more) and it ate the chicken feed frown

The chef is amazing (at least food-wise) but I don't think we've met half the 'characters' yet and I am sure others will emerge.

It will turn into Lord of the Flies once midge season starts.

I hope the producers warned them about all the unexploded munitions left on that beach and dunes as it was used for D-day landing practice.

Based on the preview, seems like the internal strife really kicks off next week.

From the looks of things one of the couples breaks up and some other bloke in the group who obviously fancies the girl decides to play the 'concerned protector' and give her ex-BF aggro for making her upset .... what a prince biggrin

It seems like they are going to abandon all pretence of it being remotely serious and just go full on reality-TV drama-fest. They have already totally skimmed over all the details about how they got their basic amenities up and running, or how they are actually coping day to day and it seems to be all about romances and feuds.

Which is a lot of the good stuff, it has to be balanced.

The romantic next thing next week looks hilarious. biggrin

Have to say, I started off disliking the precious loner this week, but slowly came round to him, he has problems. The go-between they chose was hapless.

Another person who has popped up on my radar is the self-appointed policeman, typical grey troll who thinks he is in charge, not sure if the tt who is guiding Tara, telling people to fk off mid-convo and ridiculing Tara's job of massage is the same fella, but if he is, then he is a piece of st.

I hope problem man can sort his head out.
And more of Tara's tops please. smile

"“I’ve also heard that holiday-makers who went on the beach have been asked to post letters for the participants but the visitors were told by the camp’s tannoy to get away."
From the article...huh?

I'd been wondering about this show earlier in the week.

Turns out I wasn't the only one who gave up on it; so did most of the participants!

I too was interested in this show, but did lose some interest when a few of the vile characters (reminds me of some here biggrin ) bullied others. C4's own fault, they could have chosen people who would work, not have some sort of Lord of the Flies try-out.

I reckon people would be up for watching a team come together, and not have silly Big Brother arguments all the time
