Finished it in a few days, indicative of how good I thought it was! Hoping for a second series!
Let's hope they don't do a "true detective".

Just watched 4/8, excellent stuff. I just hope it delivers the ending that it deserves.

That was really good. The refined essence of 80's Stephen King, mixed with a bit of John Carpenter and a little Spielberg added too.

They managed to get the look and feel down, not pure 80's but specifically the King TV miniseries version of the 80's.

Casting worked too, I'm sure it was all set up to remind of characters & actors from older stuff to help keep the atmosphere; Natalia Dyer managed to look a lot like Mia Sara at times.

Seemed to owe a lot to Firestarter at times (lots of story bits, the look & the synth soundtrack) with generous helpings of other stories in there, plus all those references into a whole range of stuff.

One thing though is that people keep saying this is Sci-Fi which is isn't, it's classic King horror.

Anyway looking forward to more, and could certainly stand another watch.

Watched the rest of it this weekend, and yes it was really good.

Dear Netflix, hurry up and confirm season 2 already.

I bloody loved this. From the setting, to the plot, the cast, the acting, the music.

I watched it in a weekend, probably the best bit of tele I've seen in a while.

It really did have an incredible feel watching it, just spot on really. Creepy as hell during it then quite emotional seeing kids as the victim's

I thought the sheriff was first class. Actually they all were. 10/10

can

You could put it in spoiler quotes so as not to ruin it for those still watching.

Finished watching this a couple weeks ago, really liked it, also liked that it was a relatively short series so things moved along quickly. Well acted and brilliant nostalgia!

Watched 6 eps so far, should have it finished in a couple of nights. Really enjoying it.

Bugged my parents to turn off the ITV crap they were watching and give the first episode a try last night - they ended up watching the first 4 laugh

There are a lot of references to 80's movies and TV in this, in a good way. I'll spoiler this because there are bits from all the episodes, so don't watch if you haven't seen all of ST. https://vimeo.com/175929311 .

And Holly the little girl with her hair in bunches is a big reference to Drew Barrymore in ET. Just googled for separate pictures and somebody put the two together already.
Right down to the stripey top and dungarees

Yes spotted that, yet forms another link to what seems to be a big part of their inspiration:

(spoilers below to plot fragments)

A young Drew Barrymore also played the lead character in Firestarter.
Which happens to be early 80's, and feature a telekinetic girl on the run from a mysterious government agency that isn't shy about killing people. The girl's powers are also the result of a drugs trial by said agency involving her parents. And it happens to have a synth heavy soundtrack by Tangerine Dream.

Obviously the above is only a fraction of what happens but the link is strong.
