Stranger Things (Spoilers, duh!)
Discussion
Saw an interview with the Duffer Bros that said this is the first series that doesn't 'end' like the others (in terms of most of the threads being tidied up and the next series being a new adventure).
I kinda disagree, if you switched off with an hour left you basically end as the other series did, the last hour is effectively the first episode of season 5.

My sister mentioned this morning that she's started watching it all from Series 1 again and noticed something in the first episode, it's only a split second shot near the beginning of episode 1 before Will goes missing. As he's riding home and the light goes out on his bike there's a brief flash to this before he crashes.
Given that a few people confused sitings of 11 with it being Will did the Vecna/001 fella also make the same mistake and kidnap the wrong kid from the very start? And how seems to be able to get out of the Upside Down yet not have been seen in any other series?

They didn't plot out a full story arc until Series 1 was pretty much done (it was, at one point, going to be an Anthology series) and it was incredibly basic, apparently.
They have confirmed they've gone back and tinkered with old series a bit, and with the streaming nature of the show it would be very difficult to figure out what was there from the beginning and what has been tweaked since.
I know the Internet loves to go back and look for clues but it's very, very unlikely that specifically Vecna himself was planned until much, much later. The only thing people seem to be grasping is some clock chimes that have appeared in earlier series, but even they are not exactly uncommon on horror media.

I thought it had some good moments but the overall story wasn't good, a lot of the story structure was pointlessly fragmented and it was hugely padded out to fill the running time. I think they had a concept board with good ideas, but struggled to tie it together.
Scary part is that after already aping Return of the King with an extra drawn out ending after the main end of the story, they're apparently already planning to do the same but even longer for Season 5. Probably a five hour final episode...

Late to the party but finally got around to finishing it and after being a bit underwhelmed by the first episode I have to say that it really got into its groove and is possibly the best of the 4 seasons so far (maybe Season 1 is still on top for doing a new show so well, straight off the bat).
Great, engaging story. Generally very good acting and also some good writing. Quite amazing production values too - each episode was pretty much up to the standards of a proper film and most were almost the length of a short film.
Definitely shows that Netflix can still make good TV despite the large amount of dross shows (that are mostly ruined because the creative teams want to inject politics into the entertainment) it is known for putting out these days.

Season 4 has been exceptional TV.
The writing, direction, editing have been so effective that I find myself really immersed in what’s happening on screen. At one point I shouted ‘NO’. Can’t remember the last time a TV show made me do that.
Edit: Millie Bobby Brown has been a real find. It can’t be easy casting children to star in a series that will run for years. She has turned out to be a brilliant young actress.
If you see her interviewed she's always been pretty precocious and annoying, but she can certainly act. I hope she doesn't end up with a tragic hollywood 'child prodigy' life story though. The writing, direction, editing have been so effective that I find myself really immersed in what’s happening on screen. Actually, all the younger actors have proved to be really good, so well done to them and good casting work by the creative team.

I thought that Mike and Will were both very weak, and were increasingly sidelined as time went on, in favour of Dustin and Steve, who were both excellent.
They were definitely sidelined in terms of story, I thought. The actors didn't really have a lot to work with there. I would assume they will play more a central role in S5. Dustin and Steve were indeed very good and their 'thread' was much more prominent, giving the actors the chance to shine. I really liked Max and Lucas and thought they were played very well too. The character of Max was much 'improved' over earlier seasons and far more relatable and likeable. Also, as another poster noted earlier, big shoutout to whoever did the sound mixing. The surround mix was outstanding and has been the first thing in ages to make me sit up and think 'that sounds really good' on my AV system. Not over the top, just very well balanced and effective.

Sound was amazing… and we could hear what was being said, unlike Star Trek Strange New Worlds, where we laughably had to switch on subtitles. Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
