Well, presumably there are other things going on at MI6 other than the Bond stuff. So, when she's not helping him out, Moneypenny must other duties, which means there are other stories to be told...

I would totally watch that. How she worked in the field prior to shooting Bond, etc.

I was just thinking that with the huge success of the Marvel franchise there must be some scope for Bond-related spin-offs and Moneypenny would be an interesting character to base it on.

Really?

I don't particularly like the idea of a film about taking minutes at M's meetings, sorting out his diary, filing, etc.

Back story? Maybe the Naomi Harris version and she's a legendary character, but still not solo-film worthy I don't think.

Ultimately; how would it end? Our hero had a fantastic and interesting life (made into a fantastic and interesting movie) then......chose to be a secretary.

She's a plot device at the end of the day, like Tanner, Felix Lighter and..........sorry......Q.

I think it would be better than the 'Jane Bond' reboot that was being talked about a few years ago, the current Moneypenny was a field agent, I'd watch that, not sure I'd watch a film about M's PA feigning interest at the ramblings of a succession of '00' agents as they come sliding through the office throwing their hats about willy nilly.

She didn't though, did she? Wasn't her shooting Bond her first field mission? I'm sure I recall that being mentioned.

Anyway, no, just sounds like a spurious spin off to me (Exactly the kind of belly button fluff into cashmere suit rubbish that Marvel foist on the public...)

As a moviegoer I can't think of anything good to come out of a franchise like Marvel.
If I was a movie executive I'd probably love the idea though.

Not exactly, It was a while ago, 3-4 years I think when they first talked about replacing DC.

There was talk of a Black/Asian Bond (Idris Elba amongst them) but there were a few mentions of a female JB the term "Jane Bond" was used - to me it sounded terrible. Either they would just try to make a female Bond, but Bond is so gender specific, not the jumping off and onto moving trains and hitting people bit, but his character I guess you could keep it, have a female Bond preying on Men, sleeping with them for information etc, but they've had characters like that in Bond before and they were always the bad-guys, and rightly or wrongly - I don't think audiences could root for a 'slag' (gender inequality being what it is) or completely rewrite Bond, keeping the cold hearted bit and the jumping on and off stuff but remove the chasing skirt bit - which would be fine, but they they wouldn't be Bond - that, I think is where a Jinx, Moneypenny or whoever film would be good, give them a new terrible backstory for motivation and different drivers.

Oh for the love of all things, don't let them make some over-blown, gender roles reversed (based on the Cinema of the 70s) stab at it, like Ghostbusters.
