My cars due its Mot so thought I'd just test the emissions before hand,
I'd had the Mbe Ecu upgrade as sold by Powers Performance almost a year ago now and some 10,500 miles later , these are the readings after I've got the car hot and fans are on and off.

I'm told these are good readings, can anyone confirm please, what can you detract from these results,,,

Oh and this it at tickover.
Thanks Alun

Looking at an old MOT cert I found these limits:

Natural idle (450-1500rpm)
CO 0.300 %VOL Max (my standard 500 achieved 0.014)

Fast idle (2500-3000rpm)
CO 0.200 % Vol Max
HC 200 ppm vol Max
Lambda 0.970 (MIN) 1.030 (Max)

Yes, the max values above are correct.

My Griff 500 achieved the following at its MOT in June:

Natural idle (450-1500rpm)
CO 0.00 %VOL

Fast idle (2500-3000rpm)
CO 0.00 % Vol
HC 5 ppm
Lambda 1.00

Means the engine with standard ECU is clean (cat fitted) and running well.

Alun, assuming that you didn't have any other modifications during the intervening year, once you have the test done it'd be interesting if you could post your MOT results for the MBE set-up and compare with last year's pre-MBE results if you have them.

I quite like the idea of the MBE approach and am considering it longer term particularly as it removed a number of the parts that can cause issues such as the stepper motor.

Sorry PLfrench, I've looked and don't have the emissions slip, hmmm!
I'd not had any real changes on the car so it would have been a good comparison.

No Stepper motor, I feel that pleasure every time I drive the car and even after almost a year of use I still marvel at the sound of it all.
I've driven it down to the south of France, two trackdays and two days on the drag strip and driven it as my daily driver almost daily for the last year which includes early morning starts and short journeys as well as long lazy cruises for hours and hours at a time, I can drive it all day some days smile
Shunting is a thing of the past and can pull from as low as 1000 revs or even lower without any drama at all, magic.

I was wondering if the 11,000 miles I've covered since the Mbe would have worn the engine slightly and maybe effect the fuelling very slightly but these figures show that's nonsense and the car feels as fast as ever. smile

Nice one Matt, yeah crazy or what.
It's now so good I can drive it any where and do.
I have to confess I'm missing having it in bits though laugh
These cars are ace when being driven or on stands being fettled, the cost of doing both is a stter but hey anything worth it costs a bob or two.
I like how you can keep working from one end to the other,,,, then there's another clever upgrade to be had and you just start again hehe
I've got the dreaded but actually quite exciting prospect of having to find out what my chassis is really like with a body lift sometime when the creaks and groans annoy me enough. mines one of those chassis you could see standing on end in those chaotic pictures back in the day if you ask me hehe

I just want to do it as much as need to, got my mate pocking around earlier at the riggers,, there solid enough but it's what you can't see that always leaves questions!

For me it's about slowly getting the car upto standard then really enjoying it, can't afford to drive it and develope it so I'll drive awhile , pull her off the road, do some work then drive again, I'll get to the point I can do trackdays with everything in place, doing it all at once is behond even my bank managers approval, hehe
One day I'll be free to just get out there full on for awhile. Hahah

But yes indeed what a year I've had in the Tvr, many memories are treasured and I still don't believe it really, what a car.

Have you considered converting it to LPG next? Chimpongas can bunk up in your gaff for 6 months and job's a goodun. Only a £3 grand cost to save 8p a mile on fuel, should take you less than 4 years to be in profit. In the process you two can get the Guiness World Record for talking Automotve bks whistle

My oncologist has banned alun from my gaff on the grounds that the little oxygen I have left to savour should be for my benefit and not for trying to argue over the total bks alun comes out with !

That's a bit harsh A hehe

And just to add, if you've got an emissions compliant RV8 it's obviously a really low power jobbie whistle

You all have illegal cars so can't post a result, haha,
Sheels car has less power than mine and it's de Catted,
Yeah 30 years of engineering, pfffft

Drag strip boys, beat my time, simples!

My car will do high 12's with a proper driver so bring it on.
I know nothing, but I know this, my cars way better than all of yours hehe

I might talk bks but I know what I've got and I'm glad I went down the route I have,
4K engine re build
3k Ecu upgrade,
How much was your engine Qbee, how much for the 20 AFM, twice its been mapped if I'm correct,
And your still running around on old st tech, how much to sort misfires, fking living in the dark.

Post your emissions or ignore this post please as my emotional state isn't good, get my drift, death is final and I'm dealing with never seeing my 24 year old son alive again, I use Pistonheads as a way to not think about it and if I'm drinking it's because I can't sleep, now fk off back to your ivory Tower tower and leave me alone.

You Richie want to think before writing in here pal!

And now you've got me steaming,, hehe
Dave is a very interesting guy which is more than I can say for most of you so don't bring him into this unwillingly,
His LPG conversion probably runs better than most petrol cars, it's a fking masterpiece and he should be highly respected for it, I'm sure most of you have never even seen it let alone heard it so mind your frigging manners.

No need to get upset my friend. I was having a laugh, sad that I overstepped the mark. Unreserved apologies.

For the record
Engine plus a load of other stuff was around £6k, 20AM £75, 72mm plenum similar, bigger injectors £300, all attempts to make it produce more power before I realised that my valves/heads were the problem.
Misfire sorting was 2 gallons of fuel to visit Rob, plus a £10 digital thermometer and £11 for thermal socks, rest I did myself.

Yes, it's the old 14 CUX and your MBE is awesome, but I am stuck with it for the time being and it is running reliably, just not as well as yours.

Not happy that you are upset. confused

Your poking fun at me on a public forum that may contain people who don't know me,, I'd be embarrassed to come on here and have a laugh at others expense but you seem to think it's ok, well my friend it's not, you know full well I'm going through a living hell so do us both a favour and don't wind me up.

My son was a great driver, he was gioing to drive my Tvr now he can't but I post in the hope he'll be listening and respect why I do this to my car.
This is my personal business that I don't want to talk about on here to strangers but both you and Rich have some idea of my predicament so thought you two might be a bit more circumspect when pointing out the obvious, for other wkers to come on here and add a few so called funnies,, keep the fk out my way is what I'll tell you now.

Alun,I have never once made reference on here to your current situation and any micky taking has been done in the friendliest way possible, indeed you would be probably one of the first to add to it
You are welcome to a public apology and I am sorry if any comments made have caused upset, you know that is not in my nature

That escalated quickly!

Alun, I can only begin to imagine what you are going through, truly horrific living hell and for that you have my deepest sympathys. I don't believe 'talking bollcks' was meant as a derogatory remark just what us men do when we get together and talk bollcvks about cars with plenty of banter and a good craic.

You have met Anthony plenty of times, one of the most genuine people you could ever wish to meet and always happy to help out and talk bks about TVR. There is simply no way any slight was meant.

PH is the perfect escapism from the daily stresses of life so let's not take each other too seriously. Kiss and make up? This has all got a bit serious frown

I'm not myself. I don't need public apologies, I just need people to stop and think!
Im so embarrassed to have lost my cool but my life is full of pressures and depression,

It's probably my own fault for trying to appear normal on here,,,
I had a bad day yesterday and just can't cope with almost anything right now, can't you see my use of the site is about using a simple little car to give me some joy and hope.

fksake, I don't want my situation to bleed onto this site.
I'm very sorry to both Anthony and Rich for my foul mouth,, I'm a very angry man and I'm fighting for justice for my son on a daily basis.
It's horrendous but it's no reason to get upset with friends on here.

Thank you Matthew for being the voice of reason,

As you were.

I can laugh at myself as much as the next man so keep up the humour and I'll try to read between the lines instead of thinking I've been insulted.

My academic skills are another Achilles heel of mine which is very embarrassing and it takes more courage than some of you might think for me to come on here at all.
I notice very few people post on here and I find that sad but people are often made fun of which is a weak and easy thing to do and I find it very distasteful.

Maybe there was something funny in what has been said on here but I fail to see the joke which is more down to my lack of humour right now than any malice intended and for that I'll apologise.

I'm hanging on to my Tvr when every family member thinks I should sell it, maybe I should,,,,,, one day wink
