all had snorkels, trailers or loaded roof racks looked like en expedition ?

Yup. Think that was organised by the Land Rover Spares Owners facebook group. Huge group with over 30k of members.

I've been doing charity events for years, but I was never going to ask for someone's money to drive 900 miles. Nothing personal against the organizers, but I just don't see it as much of a challenge (for the drivers!)
