They seemed to have moved Breakfast News out to Rio for the fortnight, which I just cannot understand.

At the start of the women's elimination race last night (arguably one of the most exciting events), I put the box on pause and nipped to have a pee and make a drink.
Started up the action and settled down to watch.
Brilliant they switched to BBC 4 and when I turned to 4 it had finished.

FYI: You can use the red button to watch specific disciplines, so you won't miss anything.

...unless you watch BBC1/2/4. - then you are down to their editorial decisions.

Even with the red button the sailing coverage has been utter dreck, although they seem to have broken out the helicopter and camera drones today as the Laser classes are actually being shown in some detail. The commentary is still fairly cack though.

I'm aware of the red button and my telly isn't the one suggested.
However I watched 20 seconds of the coverage on BBC 1 before pausing not expecting it to swap channel mid race.
Again, wkers the lot of 'em.

Rather than calling people wkers, why not use your remote control to watch what you want to watch.

Just a thought.

"Homer, Bart's up on the school roof making a protest. Say something to talk him down."

"Boy! Where's the remote?!"

It's not always that simple, I'm afraid.

I attempted to watch the cycling earlier via the red button.

What was labelled as cycling looked suspiciously like women's volleyball.

Strange, I'm watching women's volleyball which looks like cycling.

How about a new sport - women's beach volleyball, on bikes?

It's better than the passive aggressive wker from London. I remember that every single iPlayer caption told you the result, like "Watch bradley Wiggins take Gold" etc. wkers.

BBC gushing commentary way too patriotic. Ok we got gold. Yippee !

But do we really have to wait 15mins for the medal ceremony to discover which countries took silver and bronze ?

Have to say I agree with OP on this. Personally I'm not interested at all, but I do appreciate many people are. That said, I'd like to actually switch over to BBC News and see.... actual news for a change instead of whatever latest mundane Olympic event has taken place.

TV news has been pretty useless for that for years, the advent of 24hr rolling 'news' has soaked up all the money with admin and bullst, leaving little for the journalism. Even Newsnight is pretty poor now, you get more useful news and analysis from the Daily Politics.

Here's the thing. We have many other athletes at these games that are not winning medals. Care to name any of them?

BBC is only interested in showing on the main broadcast only the events that team GB are winning medals in. Want to follow someone with less chance of being a 'hero'? You need to search the red button service and if you're lucky you might find them. Oh, and other countries are competing, but again, you only see the best of the best.
