Strictly Come Dancing 2016 - official thread

I think she was in the bottom two simply through the stupidity of the British public. Ed Balls has consistently been the worst or second worst dancer since the competition began so should have been in each week so far anyway, and there's always a mid-tabler who ends up there at some point. Usually it's because people don't want to 'waste' their vote on someone who they assume'll be safe anyway, but then plenty have survived a dance off to go a long way in the competition - Caroline Flack won despite being in a dance off in one of the early rounds. I'm not expecting Daisy to be in again until she actually deserves to be.

For once, I don't think the British public are being stupid. Ed has a real work ethic, and people appreciate that. He's also pushing himself every single week rather than just playing it safe. I think he deserves to be there as he epitomises the ordinary person pushing themselves to the limit of their ability. At the other end of the spectrum we have Danny, who looks like he could be a professional dancer.

I think one thing's for certain though, he'll only ever be in a dance off once.

A fair enough viewpoint, and agree entirely about him giving it his all, but I would suggest that the others are too. However, for me, giving it everything isn't enough, I want to see a bit of talent too. The show isn't called Strictly Trying Really Hard so in that respect regardless of Ed's genuinely stirling efforts he can't dance for toffee so IMO is would be thoroughly deserving of a bottom two placing each week.

I can certainly see and appreciate your viewpoint. But we have had plenty of comedy no-hopers who, not only do they have no talent, but also don't really appear to be trying or taking it totally seriously. Scott Mills was a case in point - a likeable, if not adorkable, guy but I never felt he was really even achieving his (tiny) ability. Ed, on the other had, seems to be exceeding his ability. And if there is one thing the British public like it is an underdog who really gives it their all. I think one thing's for certain though, he'll only ever be in a dance off once.
He'll be out soon, of course, as the competition gets really serious, and I think we have an incredibly high standard this year.

Ed Balls: pure comedy genius, I haven't laughed like that in ages. Also, struggling to think of two couples who genuinely deserve to be in the dance off tomorrow night, think everyone pulled out the stops tonight.
Sadly as much as I like her I think Anastasia should be one of them. Not sure of 2nd choice!bexVN said:

That would be my thoughts. Brendon was so fast and slick in his routine I felt she did not keep up with him.Ed deserves to go through after tonight's performance.
Danny's scores were lower too this week.
