I thought the whole night was brilliant.

In summary for me:

Ore was a a deserving winner - he nailed all three dances and his showdance was the best of the three. he comes across as genuine and he clearly loved what he was doing.

Louise - i'm sorry she just didn't look comfortable in the leotard and it showed. her show dance was nice enough but she didn't need to grin like a cheshire cat all the way through it, there was no light and shade in the performance sadly. her tango was however superb again but it wasn't quite enough on the night.

Danny brilliant choreography agreed Oti has been the standout pro this year but the choregraphy needed someone with the ability to dance it and Danny had that - maybe we got too accustomed to great performances that they had been consistently excellent through out - a couple of mistakes (was it a dress malfunction?) might have cost him.

going into the final I couldn't a call it but on the night Ore was the best and I really liked Kevins' reaction to his sister winning - nice touch. Ores' show dance and his Jive, Dannys' Samba and the Pier catch and Louises' movie week and her argentine were the highlights from these three.

a brilliant series. gonna miss it

I was expecting some sort of goodbye from Sir Bruce to Len but as he wasn't even mentioned he must be in a bad way.
Thrilled for Ore.
He must be very ill as he cannot make the tribute to Ronnie Corbett next week.
I fear we will soon hear of his passing.

He's not been well since his keyhole surgery in October last year. No idea what it was for but obviously a lot more serious than the procedure it would've suggested or something went very wrong during it. Not good.

The current rumour going round is that next year Darcy will step up and take the role of head judge. If that does happen, then the remaining judge slot would possibly be taken by a current or retired dancer from the show itself.

So long as they don't make the vacant judging slot a celebrity face position (who has no dance / choreography experience) then I'm sure it will still work moving forward.

I like Darcy, but don't think she's qualified to be head judge in the context of ballroom dancing.

It's got to be Anton, surely.

Anton has to be a hot favourite to be a judge. He certainly has the persona for it, plus the cheeky quips and humour.

I reckon it will be Ian as he does professional judging already.

Same here.

I think Anton would be perfect for the role.

anton would be the perfect personality for the role but he's mot a professional judge and I think at least one of the panel should have some gravitas in that respect....

I honestly thought Kevin was going to send the Glitterball trophy stand flying when he started twirling his sister around in celebration hehe

Bit disappointing not to have the Red Button "aftershow" bit that they've run the last couple of years however frown I know it was only 20 odd minutes of chat with the winners / runners up, but at least it was a nice bit of closure considering there's no Take Two which would normally cover it the previous weeks.
Totally agree with the above, there should be some after show for the reactions, or another 1 hour ITT on the Monday.

I thought Ore really nailed all of his performances and I am really pleased he won. Danny was by far the best "technical" dancer all season, but as Len stated the week before, Ore is all that Strictly is about. To come with no training and get that level of performance is really impressive. He peaked at the right time and I am really happy he won.

Louise really flaked in the final, whilst they kept on banging on about her being more confident, I don't think she really believed it, she just never really lost herself in the dances like the other two.

I wonder what the story is with Will Young, if he really had his own demons to deal with or just got the huff at Len's comments.

Still an enjoyable series, I don't rate it as the best series some some other pundits, but still good entertainment all the same. Just another 9 months to wait....

The disappointment of the Christmas special - Melvin Odoom? Really? - couldn't dampen the spirits in Moxey Towers after receiving tickets to the tour in Birmingham from MIL this year. Show's on 21st Jan, really can't wait for that one, :-)
