And yet you feel the need to post in a thread about a show you say you never watch. How very odd.

Are there any other threads you go into to tell people you have no interest in the topic of discussion? confused
Damn right Cupcake.

Listen XCP, all the men on this thread and others before it like Strictly. We don't need to hand in 'man cards'. Or make things out of wood to make us feel comfortable in our own skin.

As it happens, many of us here get together, whether virtually or in person and really enjoy ourselves on a Strictly night. We wear a relevant outfit, get some fabulous cocktails in and let our hair down. Life is stressful and in my opinion there's a need for Pistonheads men like us to really get to know Daily Mail readers, women who drive Renault Megane cabriolets, and the elderly.

There's nothing weird about it. It doesn't mean we sit around talking in high voices. Mutual masturbation during the show is less common than you might think.

We like the spectacle. We like the catchy interpretation of pop hits and the banter makes us laugh. If you'd taken a bit of time to watch, you'd see that Tess Daly is the missing link between women and comedy. So where's the harm? Why do you judge our lifestyle and our choices? When I got my wife to dress like Mark Ramprakash and peg me ruthlessly after the show a few years ago it saved my fking marriage. And I'm not the only one on here with a story like that. Most of us are the same actually. Although Cupcake is more of a Darren Gough fan.

So leave us alone XCB. Leave this thread alone.

If it strokes your superiority complex to imagine that some of us do then, yeah, knock yourself out and imagine some of us do. rolleyes

Does it matter what anybody does as long as they're enjoying themselves ?

I was responding to the captains post which I had assumed was tongue in cheek, as was mine. You seem very sensitive to any criticism of the show. Fair enough. As I have said all along, each to their own.

I'll defend XCP's right to moan about the programme if he wants.

This is a public forum, not a private club where naysayers are escorted from the premises.

The band and singers sometimes seem pretty decent, but I'd agree that they hit some pretty bum-notes last series especially!

I've not watched any of this series yet (aside from checking out Anastacia's performance via YouTube because someone said it was 'Phwoar' - It was ok...), because the missus hasn't. I expect she will at some point.

Nothing wrong with enjoy Strictly as a bit of light entertainment, but equally nothing wrong with finding some performances by the band less than stellar either!

That's fine. Your saying you watch the program, and sometimes the band aren't always as good as they could be.
XCPs complaining about the band on a program he purports to never watch. So how does he know how good/bad the band are?

I think he's trying to hide his secret love of sequins behind a veneer of manly negativity

Indeed. For example, I don't watch any Soap Operas because I don't really like them. I don't feel the need to go into (say) the Coronation Street thread to tell people this, though.

hehe

I have no such need to hide it - I think they are fahhhhhbulous, darling (said in best Craig R-H voice).

Oh, did anyone pick up on the rather snippy comment towards Craig about not 'dragging' something up. I thought that was rather catty, and also not really in keeping with the BBC's diversity and tolerance brief.

For the sake of clarity: I have watched the programme in the past. I decided I didn't like it, Primarily because of the music and singing, and I consequently do not watch it at the moment. The idea that I am not allowed to express an opinion on this thread seems rather odd.
I do like dance music. Basie, Goodman, Ellington, Miller et al, and have a lot of recordings from these artists, my favourite band being that of Count Basie. I like Jools Holland amongst others if we are talking current outfits. I just don't think it is done very well on this show. I am sorry if that is upsetting anyone but there you are.

I don't think anyone was saying you weren't allowed to express an opinion. I just think it's strange to be active in a thread whose subject is a programme you don't watch, that's all.

I was a little surprised at how poor Will Young was.

Leslie Joseph did a very good job considering her years
