Tbh last night's show confirmed for me that this year's contestants are, based on showing so far, division 2, some even conference league.

I'm watching it for the first time ever this evening to find out what all the fuss is about. I'm none the wiser, a totally underwhelming programme that I won't waste time watching again.
Last nights was particularly poor, found myself piddling around with my phone for most of it! Yorkshire puddings, pancakes and doughnuts we're never going to make good viewing though, just 3 variations of making a batter and adding heat sleep

Well, either that or it jumped the shark last night and The Beeb have dropped it bang on time!

I'm relieved (I suppose) to learn that wasn't a typical episode because I was beginning to wonder if it was a spoof programme; lattice pancakes FF'sS, that's not baking and Yorkshire Puddings that looked more like savoury cupcakes, from what I saw, most of the contestants couldn't even make a decent plain Yorkie. As for the churros...

And another thing - where was all the inuendo I've been reading about? The programme was all about 'batter', plenty of scope there I would have thought. However, what pisses me off the most (apart from Mary Berry's habit of speaking before she's finished eating) is the use of 'bake' as a noun - grrr!

There was a 'roasted nuts' reference with a decent pause. That was reasonable.

That Candice person needs to pout just a little bit more.

Based on the results of the yorkshire pudding cooking I could win this year easily.

I wouldn't know where to start. Anything with flour and eggs and butter might as well be Greek to me.

The standard really is very poor this year. Watching someone make an inevitable pig's ear of something simple gets old quite quickly.

Some of the efforts last night were so poor that the contestants must have made some last minute recipe changes to make their effort more 'fancy' once they'd seen what other were doing.

She's good on the 'it takes two' show (I forget what it's actually called) show where she can take the mickey out of the contestants and the show after the event, but half the contestants are on a knife-edge to a breakdown anyway, she probably wouldn't help that situation. Like Dara O'Briain wandering around after the Apprentice candidates pointing out how ridiculous they're being - OK after the event as a review show.
Oh, how I can't stand those 'spin-off' shows furious It seems like they're just trying to kill time - how much are we paying for salaries/production for these things?

That's the problem, cake mix tastes better than any cake you can make.

To some extent it's the format, a couple of series ago one Scottish chap was criticised for doing simple stuff, albeit doing them very well, against others who were doing fancier creations but less well. Old story form over function.

But come on Yorkshire pudding, some of those were utterly pathetic.

On the other hand churros are simple street food and easy to do, best as intended, simple street food with a dip maybe. Trying to make it complicated and showstopper was setting contestants up for failure.

Eh the mix tastes better? Have I said the ingredients then?

Yes, not only does it make a god awful noise, it is also a very good way to blunt the knife.

What was it she said, something about being a tosser rather than a flipper. What a minx!

I watched this series last night for the first time.

I think she's rather nice.

I might not watch again, she's not THAT nice.

For me, she would be rather nice if she wasn't convinced that she was utterly lovely. The unnatural pouting is ridiculous.

Agreed. The Mrs sums her up as someone too fond of herself and looking for a Z list career on the telly.
