I'm interested to see how bad the Are You Being Served is going to be.

Flicked Gold on the other week and the AYBS film was on, the one where they go to Spain. My God, it was fking awful. laugh

I then realised that the entire cast are now dead. frown

Mike Berry's still around.
And so, I think, are Vivienne Johnson & Penny Irving.

Did Viviene Johnson have much of a part apart from the obvious visual ones?

Can't remember Penny Irving and Mike Berry replaced Trevor Bannister a decade after it started. Don't really count him. smile

Viv was the Young Mr. Grace's nurse and Penny was his secretary.

None of them were exactly core cast, but they are still around.

Indeed, saw a clip of Porridge the other day and it's supposed to be with Fletcher's grandson, but there's a Mr Mackay character. frown

Am recording Are You Being Served though, just to be totally appalled laugh

I'd love to see how they're going to do "Till death us do part" justice in this day and age!

With the exception of Porridge that lot is best left in the past. And porridge can stay with it, but out of respect not dread.

Also a BBC mockmentary about Nigel Farrage? This places collective head will fall off through rage

Can't wait for Love Thy Neighbour reboot too biggrin

Although the way the women treat their men as idiots (true in this case) was ahead of its time!

That said it seems like a dreadful idea - Did I understand that SOME episodes are original scripts that were never made or have been lost? I've caught some Hancock's Half Hours on the radio, everyone (as with AYBS) just seems to be doing impressions. I can't see the point personally...

It seems bizzare to have actors playing the original actors but I believe it worked in the recent film remake of Dad's Army. Personally, I can't see the point unless the script is new and even then the idea is questionable.

Total lack of imagination, pointless. Porridge was sublime Barker at his best- anything else will be a disappointment.

Yes and never forget that some of the original series were total sh*t like Goodnight Sweetheart, Are You Being Shagged (how will they get round the non-PC now?) and dross like Gimme Gimme Gimme. Even Open All Hours and Sorry were terrible.
How about a remake of Love Thy Neighbour which is about as good an idea as these!

Trying to fill Ronnie Barker and Warren Mitchell's boots is going to be impossible. All they need now is to try to recast Black Adder...

Mind you, it's not as if Dad's Army didn't work...oh wait...

Small segment on the one show tonight about the Are you being served one.

At least the cast looks ok ,"Boycey" as Captain Peacock and Arthur Smith in Arthur English's role.

As above though ,waiting to be appalled at how terrible these are all going to be.

Surely it's only bigamy if he's married to them at the same time?

Sadly, I think this shows that the BBC just does not understand comedy any more.

Reading the plot summary he actually was married to them both eventually, had a child with wife no. 2 while wife no. 1 miscarried.

It's not something I particularly watched but the bare bones of it aren't really much of a comedy but actually pretty unpleasant with all the scamming and cheating. At least in the end Gary gets stuck with the crappier option.
