Enjoyed that, surprised by his drag car run seemed pretty close to your girls run.

It's what new Top Gear should have been!

Another with a thumbs up for this.

Very little messing about and all about the nice cars.

Pegasus = awesome.

Engine sent directly by Enzo.

I was thinking that but it's really a one man show isn't it

Another thumbs up here. Looked like Tim Allan had bagged himself an RS 200 in the background. It's nice to see Leno and Allen going for some quirky stuff rather than just cars people should they think they should own. OT but at the end of the programme did I see a trailer for the Chris Evans TG on Dave? The Beeb haven't wasted much time offloading that corpse.

Thumbs up here too. The Pontiac/Ferrari was lovely, and the restored C3 Corvette too, especially with the blacked out chrome.

Really enjoyed it.
"Why do people do donuts? If you don't know stop watching this programme now"
I can't imagine the likes of Chris Evans and James Martin having the same rapport as Leno did with Tim Allen. Their egos would get in the way of the cars.

Loved it.

Probably made on a fraction of the budget spent on the last series of Top Gear (and it showed in places), and definitely geared towards a US audience, but it demonstrates dramatically that expensive filmography is the icing on the cake and not the essence of an entertaining car show. The cars were the stars, but the stars were knowledgeable and entertaining too.

Plus it puts in stark contrast the difference between a genuinely likeable celeb who really knows about cars and a celeb who thinks he is likeable and has given the impression to other people that he knows about cars.

Fairly enjoyable. I hope they don't focus on American cars too much though. I do like American cars but a lot of the US based car programs never really feature non American cars so I am hoping they don't go down that route.

While there are people who think James Martin would be a suitable Top Gear presenter, not a chance!

I watched the programme for the first time this evening. It was really enjoyable seeing all those muscle cars, especially the GT350H (H for Hertz) meaning it was a hire car. I definitely be watching future editions.

It is an American show so I would be surprised if they didn't. Having said that the Ferrari engined prototype was great.

As a comic I find Jay Leno is as funny as toothache but he is a world class car enthusiast, I have followed his internet stuff for years and never been disappointed.

The first TV show is way better than Top Gear IMO, minimal filler and a proper enthusiasts show without any adenoidal boring stuff either, also note that Tim Allen was not there just to plug his latest film.

Pleased to see a US show that isn't a running advert for the sponsor as well.

Don't get against it. Jay is a MASSIVE fan of European stuff, and his collection does feature lots of nice (and rare) cars and bikes from this side of the pond. McLaren F1, McLaren P1, LCC Rocket, Original Elan, Ariel Atom, Muira, Countach, Citroen SM, E-Type, KX120, a few 20's & 30's Bentley's etc etc etc. He positively gushes over those cars as much as he does a Muscle car.

I think anyone making this show would be an idiot if they tried to dictate what Jay talked about. In fact the best thing to do (and probably what is happening) is to just let Jay himself call the shots on what is talked about when.

Just caught the first show last night.

Brilliant.

I've watched a lot of his you tube stuff - especially loved the Elan rebuild (although the finished car wasn't to my taste).

Everyone over on the Top Gear thread who wants a Harris/Reid/whoever "proper car show" should be pleased with this.

Great content and nicely made, balancing the need for content, humour, and I assume a pretty small budget.

A real quality car show for a change.
