My go to soggy sunday afternoon film is: The man who would be king

''Tell them, we tumbled from the shhhhkiessshhh...'' wink

Quite a few old Sunday afternoon b&w films I could happily watch over and over : Dunkirk, The Colditz Story, In Which We Serve, Went The Day Well, Ice Cold In Alex, Reach For The Sky, The Cruel Sea, The Dambusters, The League Of Gentlemen, Passport To Pimlico and (soppy date alert) Brief Encounter.

I find I can happily watch a film on TV but not on DVD!!

I know it's odd but for some reason it just seems different. An example is Top Gun. I love that film, if it comes on I watch it either avidly or glancing at scenes, DVD has never come out of the box.

And me. If I see they're showing a Bond film starting at 8pm or so when I'm going out just after 9pm I even spend a second or two weighing up whether to record the rest of it, even though I've got them all on DVD and could just pick any one to watch without ad breaks. Same for the recent re-showing of Spooks on Saturday nights - got them all on DVD and never watch them, but record them to watch on Sunday evening when on TV.

There has to be a medical condition or stigma for this because a lot of people are like it.

They have the DVD and never watch it, film comes on TV and they are all over it. Odd ??

Here too - it's because you cannot say "I'll watch that soon". It's on now so sit down and shut up!

So full of nuances that elude first and second viewings.

Kelly's heroes, dirty dozen, duel, dead calm, master & commander of the far side of the world (phew) any of the borne films, hunt for the red October, saving private Ryan, and lots more!! (Donnie brascoe too seeing as the Sony channel plays it week in week out)

Heat is in my top 5 yet I can't watch it unplanned.
