I only started watching a couple of series ago .... I think it's very watchable,David cracks me up.
David is unwittingly hilarious. Glad he appears to be back on the up, I would have hated him to have spiralled completely to the bottom which is where the current series seemed to be taking him. Jamp said:
Anyone still watching some guilty-pleasure girly telly?! Generally it's really well written, but this series seems to have them acting out of character, and the Karen-Adam storyline is just ridiculous!
Yes - I don't buy the Karen - Adam thing. It seems lazy, soap opera-like writing. Not a lot of chemistry there so the sudden wild lust and inseperability after 20 years isn't believable! The characters generally are getting more like caricatures over time too, and the show getting weaker.

Agreed; the show has become too comfortable for its own good, and the Karen/Adam thing seems like the writer has run out of ideas.I'd prefer it if became more bitter/sweet. For example, Jenny's cancer has been portrayed as a slight inconvenience to her. The potential for genuine drama has been missed, and I found myself not really that bothered by her story. Another example is the suicidal bloke that Pete "rescued". As soon as it got interesting, the bloke disappears only to pop up later on apparently "cured". Even the children all seem to be pretty happy and balanced - there just isn't much drama going on.
Cold Feet used to make me cry [Rachel's death for instance], and laugh out loud too. Now it does neither, it's rather a bland version of what it once was.

This series was a disappointment for me ... It's the first series they have done that I thought was ordinary. Shame.
I always enjoyed Cold Feet (I used to love the use of music in the original series, but I find the recent series mostly use music I'm totally unfamiliar with and mostly don't enjoy, so it doesn't work the same for me - I often used to track down music I'd heard on the show), but I tend to agree with that.I won't give up on it just yet (assuming more is to come), as there are still great moments, but it did feel like they were retreading familiar ground a fair bit...

Good start, but the scene where Fay Ripley's sat at the mirror and takes her wig and make up off was one of the most moving I think they've ever done.
Not watched it yet but have watched all the other series, as a character I just don't like her, I can't warm to her, she has always come across as very self centred. Antony Moxey said:

Apart from the obvious error that she is not naturally blonde. But yes, was very moving (personally as we have close friends going through the same thing right now).
