New series starts tomorrow (Thursday) on C4.
Looks promising going by the trailers and the first series was very engaging in places despite being another "reality" show.
For those what don't know, it's a real life Jason Bourne type thing where ordinary folk go on the run against a selection of professional detectives, surveillance teams and trackers.

Hmmm... isn't it more a case of "simpletons go on the run chased by people who know exactly where they're going"?

Not really.
Remember the doctor in Series1? Got from Kent to Glencoe before they'd even decided where to look let alone set out after him, then he filmed them across the Loch searching a bothy he'd long since vacated but where he'd left a mobile for them to find with a taunting text message letting them know he'd filmed the entire thing.
Then there were the two Asian lads who left a trail of false clues in the form of emails and texts backdated to before they even went on the run.
Granted they were no Bravo Two Zero but neither were they simpletons.

Thanks for that.

Last series left lots of unanswered questions about what was allowed and what wasn't on the surveillance side but still a very enjoyable watch.

Quite informative about exactly how much info can be found about us all quite easily too.

I always wear a false beard at ATMs and only drive on B roads now!

True, it did have a few holes in it but I guess that's down to even the mighty C4 not having the same legal clout as the Home Office when it comes to sticking a camera up someone's bum.
The "ANPR data" for example was clearly the production team simply passing on where the suspects' vehicles were.

Yes... but I would at least hope they only did this when the car passed through a genuine anpr site.

The cctv footage from cash points etc - done afterwards and edited in?

Enjoyable enough for me to give s2 a go though.

It'll be interesting to hear what the background narration will consist of.
Series one described and detailed the state of the nation and where we're at.
We're still there, so will they just re-word and repeat the same stuff?

Was there the same £100,000 prize in Season 1 or was it just "to see if it could be done?"

With the promise of £100,000 coming, I would seek to use that as a lever to anyone willing to hole me up - "Let me stay here and, if I win, I'll give you £2,000 at the end of the month" kind of thing.

I can't see how a 2nd series will work. Unless of course the people taking part are stupid and learnt nothing from season 1 to avoid getting caught

Didn't most of them get caught because they insisted on contacting family and/or making other obvious mistakes?

Might give it a whirl again...

Thing is, as well as tactics there are other factors that can change the whole thing.
The individuals involved will have different motivation and strengths/weaknesses, and things like weather can make a massive difference. There's also a huge chunk of luck involved for both sides.
Evasion is a game with constantly moving goalposts.

I do wonder how secretive the camera crews are that are with the "hunted"

I mean, I think I could quite easily move into my neighbours granny flat for a month and not be found. Now this wouldn't be very good viewing so how quickly would I be found thanks to the camera crew?

My guess as to how it is filmed:

Camera crew and hunter crew are separate.

Hunter crew use what they can find out and we see all that bit going on. The camera crew with the hunted will be on hand to let the hunter crew know when they pass a camera or use a cash machine etc, since they won't actually be allowed that info from the real police.

I would also hope, that in the spirit of the game, the hunter crew will only be using the means they would usually do to find the person, and any extra info they get from the camera person would be disregarded.

After all, it is just a game, with prize money, but with prize money, means that the person must have a fair chance of winning it.

Yeah, I don't understand only taking £100 out meaning they have to go back! Take it all.

Interesting change of starting format which seems to load things massively in favour of the hunter force which is a shame.
The two military guys will be interesting. They have skills, experience and discipline but those very traits will also make them stand out.
