Really like how it all clicks into place at the end.

Stand by Me.
LA Confidential.
Shawshank Redemption.

Hard to split them for me. An interesting common theme in the selection above are that they are films which have a predominately male-only cast. That plus two are adaptions of 'horror novelist' Stephen King.

'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' because I'd really like to be there when it happens.

For me its always this 1951 movie - such an emotive and forward thinking storyline. And mankind's view hasn't altered a jot in over 50 years.

I know some people will pretend to be all high brow with their choices but my go to, anytime, dependable film is Kevin and Perry Go Large. It never fails to raise a smile, reminds me of mid 90's Ibiza and has a great soundtrack. I love it just as much as I did when it came out.

Once Upon A Time In The West

I just love every single part of the film, a perfect Western imo.

I have really enjoyed reading the more 'out there' nominations, and have added some films to the list smile.

Are you a fan of the books? I thought it was a very good adaptation, and I am a huge fan of the books smile

still a must watch film. Maybe we should have a "top ten favourite films of all time" thread. Some really great reminders of must watch films.

Some great shouts on here. My default answer is always Ferris Bueller.

However:

Matrix, Before sunrise/sunset, Mulholland Drive, Empire of the Sun, Blues Brothers, Andromeda Strain, Aliens, Raid 2, IP Man, Enter the Dragon, Seven Samurai, Can't buy me love, Goonies, Stand By Me, Drive, Goodfellas, Heat, Pulp Fiction, Django, The First of the Few, Battle of Britain, Mrs Miniver, God Father (all 3), Jaws, Zodiac, Fightclub, Shawshank, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Cannonball Run, Romancing the Stone, Predator, The Third Man, Jean De Florette, Manon des source, The Duelists, Princess Bride, Wait until Dark, The Conversation, pretty much anything with John Cusack in it.

Which part of single most favourite do you struggle with? Nobody asked for a list.

As others have said it's tricky to come up with a single film, but I think of what film I could happily watch again and again...

Such a fantastic soundtrack as well as being a great film.
