All getting a bit OTT with this Negan dude IMHO. The King guy is more realistic of how it would go down IMHO.
Really? I would guess the complete opposite. Should we ever get into this Zombie scenario its going to be the sicko's like Negan who build up crew of "followers" and use that to entice more in - a sort of evil Ponzi scheme. The King fella seems much more fantastical - especially with the tiger.

It would indeed.

But a couple of seasons ago they introduced Abraham and Eugene and, at least to begin with, it looked like they were "going somewhere" ie we were led to believe Eugene had some inside knowledge on getting to DC in order to find other people in the know, government officials or some such.

It didn't pan out of course, but until that point I was hoping that the group would start working towards that common goal.

It now appears that the common goal is to set up a new society and get back to normal and deal with the walkers and marauders as and when. As much as that makes a lot of sense, I'm beginning to find the format has now become too repetitive. Which is a shame, for me, as it is putting me off. Undoubtedly I'll binge all the episodes I need to catch up on, but for now its going to stay on the planner.
Don't you think this Negan storyline is a new twist though? We've been through the utopian society model with "the governor" and now were are into the slavemaster with Negan. This whole series (I am guessing) is going to be all about how Rick and the crew either topple him or escape. For me this is the most horrifying storyline we've had in the entire series - the last ep of series 6(?) and the first ep of this one being actually quite disturbing. IMO this show is the strongest its been.

I think they realised after season 2 (lets all sit around the farm and chat) that they need to keep it moving and to be fair ever since S2 they have done.

Other than him being an over-the-top Sociopath, I think it's entirely realistic.
Is it over thr top?

Mussolini liked to watch his enemies be hanged by piano wire...or Hitler did, it doesn't act like hemp, and there have been worse than them in history.

I've been in the vicinity of sorts like Negan, it's not nice.

Perhaps, and I suspect that having only seen the first 2 episodes of this series does mean that I havent had full exposure to him just yet. I'll persevere at some point, and see how I get on

Jeeesus, I just found the comics online, they're so far ahead of the current story!
They were well established before the series began.

Well thats a good thing - hopefully the series will maintain the quality with the same writers and won't end up in some barmy TV writers mess a la Lost or Prison Break etc etc

It is (a good thing), they have enough twists and turns and for want of a better phrase "situations" that could be made into series to last at least 1 more interesting season, possibly 2 if they pad the episodes.

What I like about the story going forward is that they don't follow the comic verbatim so even if you know what happens in the comic, that by no means determines the storyline of the tv show. Andrea is still alive and Ricks love interest in the comics and Rick lost an arm long ago...so far back it couldn't possibly be part of any storyline now so I'm not spoiling anything.

Plus the comic creator is around to keep things in check.
And two of the best characters are pure telly creations and the show would be less interesting without them. SO it's all good.

I don't know if it's indicative but after the 1st episode I haven't watched the 2nd yet. I used to be champing at the bit for this through all six seasons but now I've gone a bit meh. I've been watching The Expanse, Humans and Westworld ahead of this.

I quite enjoyed it but I don't seem to analyse the show in depth like most posters on here. It's 40ish minutes of TV to sit and enjoy for me.

This season has been pretty sh*t apart from the first episode. Nothing really happens.

That lieutenant of Negan's (the chap with the big grin) is a fantastic character. I hope we get to see more of him.

Yeah my brother said the same and I'm getting that way now.
I haven't seen Westworld yet but that's getting good reviews so I'll give it a go.

That's the thing, I don't and have never analysed the show, i just watched it for what it is, brain out telly but I'm bored with it so think that's it for now.
I'll still record them but may binge watch it at a later date.
