Oh, sorry, does it say "The Walking Dead Series 7 - No Negative responses"? If you don't like my views, don't read them...

This isn't an adulation site, it's a discussion forum.

I really hope that TWD gets its act together, because I used to love it, but this season has been dull as ditchwater for me.

If you're enjoying yourself, why do you care what I think enough to respond?

I never suggested it did say no negative responses, however, it gets extremely tedious when week in week out, people watch a programme they do not enjoy so they can come on heee and complain.

Set up a new thread "why I hate Walking Dead" if you want, then those of us that want to discuss plots, etc can get on with it.
Call in The Whinging Dead!

Genuine question because I'm interested to hear your response - do you think that that thought even crosses the writers/characters/editors/backers minds when it's pulling 10m+ viewers on a weekly basis? The money the show must generate from advertising must be immense

I think too high an expectation can undermine your enjoyment, after all it's a show about zombies and survival, personally I love it.

I know it's on 'basic' cable, does that still have advertisements?

Someone said, whilst high, viewing figures are down on the previous series.

Revenue must be high, one assumes, but so, I believe, is the budget, so it's not as simple as saying "Lots of people watch it, we'll carry on doing the same".

I guess TWD is to be applauded for following the comic stories, but I'm sure most viewers have never seen them, so something different sounds promising.

If people just want to read "Wow! Amazing! Lolz!" they can read Youtube comments.

I've been pretty down on much of this series because I think it's fallen well short of previous ones. I'm not alone, although maybe in a minority of those who bother coming on a forum to discuss a TV show - Like Amazon reviews of books and music, it seems many people ONLY want to read opinions that agree with theirs about their favourite shows.

If you've enjoyed this series of TWD, good for you. I haven't, but I still hope it can return to the standard I used to greatly enjoy.

I hate Masterchef (any competitive Cookery programme, in fact) and the Apprentice, but I don't (or rarely before someone digs out the 1 post I've forgotten I have posted there! smile ) post in there, because I don't care if I enjoy them or not. I used to hugely enjoy The Walking Dead, which is why I'm disappointed in it now.

The programme broadly follows the comics, but differs in some major ways, we have main protagonists who are show creations, so it'll always be different enough to be worth it to enjoy both.

I dunno - the Governor seasons were pretty sketchy.
Random killer flu for a couple of episodes anyone?
You have that and then you have epics such as some of the "train track" season...

There's some grim parts in the comic, seriously grim actually. These parts were never touched upon in the show or involved characters that weren't there either. One of the prisoners was a very sick individual.

Both have their merits. I have enjoyed this season so far, there's always parts that annoy me in the show but I'll stay with it till the end.

Was going to tell you just to f off and look at a different thread, but I do see what you meansmile for me the governor series was terrible for me and I was whinging then.

I am enjoying this series, the reason I am enjoying it is because I have gone off, watched a load load of other rubbish since last season and realised quite how many shows regurgitate the same st week after week, series after series.
Should TWD writers follow what the punters are actually asking for, we would be watching exactly the same episode every week... Well maybe an alternation between Daryl goes nuts and kills loads of people/Zs and Rick goes nuts and kills loads of people/Zs.
The show has to change to be a story, otherwise it becomes a soap.
By all means go and watch emmerdale, but I hate pointless recurring repetitiveness. TWD is supposed to be a story, with character development, plot progression and twists and turns.

The start of this series gave some of the minor characters a chance to step up, develop their story, and so give more depth to the cast than just Rick, Daryl and Carol. The pace will inevitably change with this, we had the same with Michonne when she first came in, when Abraham came in etc etc. Slow at first, then bam we see the characters come to life.
TWD cannot be completely new and different, it's been around ages now, so you are not going to get the first series, with a lack of expectation, no idea where it is going or what will happen.

Now my advice if you are finding this boring, is to stop watching for a while (easy now it's mid-season), go and what some repetitive rubbish and come back without the expectations of the first series of TWD, but with the a more open mind. Save up a few to watch and just enjoy them without comparing to episodes/plotlines you enjoyed previously.

Well, I've got plenty of time to not watch TWD and I'm sure I'll be watching in February smile

I guess you're right in that it set such a high bar in the first two series that it's almost impossible to sustain.

Series 2 -Farming with TWD? That was weeks of dull.

I think people forget that series one was only 6 episodes, series 2 was 13 and then 16 after that. I understand commercially why they spread them out but also I think that less time make for tighter plotting with less filler.

Overall this series has been much more consistent than some of the previous. They do better when they try and stick to the comics general plot lines than doing their own thing.

I'll happily give up a series if I'm not enjoying it anymore (lasted one series of Fear twd) but I'm still invested in this one.

Yeah, series two was awful!!! Just awful! The first series was electric, and not only was only 6 eps long, but had twice the budget. It was the one Darabont was involved with.

Also, yes, the series does far better when it sticks to the comic.

The whole show has been a rinse and repeat of the same story for the last several seasons and this season is going exactly the same way.
