If TWD follows the comics (as I have been given to believe), then do they have really dull editions too? If they are full of action and the telly show isn't, then surely the show isn't following the comic?
The thing with reading a comic issue is that the character development happens at your pace, it doesn't take up a lot of your reading time. The action is much the same but does feel more frequent and much harder hitting using certain themes, timing and time spent on it.Yes, there are some duller parts, but the time of it is limited to how fast you can read or take in the info. I imagine block watching TWD is far better than episode to episode, I just can't be waiting weeks on end to watch it!

Interesting.... You have to wonder how good something like TWD would be on Netflix, at least they don't fk about with season fillers, its now evident why there is some episodes with a few cast members and no one else.
I remember watching a TWD episode then Narcos on Netflix after. I kept thinking to myself, fk me this is night and day. Bang story told, wow this is amazing so fast, compared to a good story you loose interest in.
They're quite different shows to be fair.I remember watching a TWD episode then Narcos on Netflix after. I kept thinking to myself, fk me this is night and day. Bang story told, wow this is amazing so fast, compared to a good story you loose interest in.
I think TWD has just done what it can do with the model it chose. They have now escalated to the point where no one is surprised what happens any more, so don't really care.

I reckon this show will be wrapped up in the next 2 seasons... The ratings are plummeting, down to around 10m in the US... last episode saw 10.16m viewer and it has been on a steady decline for a while. Similar viewing numbers were last seen in the early part of Season 3.
I wish, they'll spin it out for as long as it can make money rather than just telling the story they want to tell and ending it.Patrick Bateman said:

They need to break out of this rinse and repeat cycle. Fans are losing faith and have been for a while; the producers are obviously taking note and need to take action. The format has become formulaic.
Even the BBC has taken note:

They've resorted to uber gore now, to maintain interest, as shown when Rick pulled the walker in half trying to get him out of the car windscreen last week. Not too sure exactly why they needed to push the car, it obviously wasn't going to start, and I couldn't be bothered to rewind and find out why.

IIRC they planned to roll it to cover an entrance where a fat load of walkers were, to break them up and make clearing them easier. Quite how they expected a car to perfectly cover an entrance I don't know. The gore is boring. The really odd characters, like Janus, are boring. I hope for some harder hitting storylines and episodes, much like the early episodes of this series. I guess this series will end on a cliffhanger before we get any real conclusions.

Issues 157-165 are the latest and I think the show is somewhete about 108, but there's so many differences in the story it's not a fair comparison.
OK, thanks. There's a lot of story telling still to come I guess in some way, I wonder if the sales of the comics have dropped at all? I'll try google, but not holding out much hope.....A quick google woud suggest around 150k last year and 139k now, so it's not dropping in popularity, in fact from what I can find out it seems to be the highest selling comic (per unit).

Did anything happen in the latest episode? Trying to decide whether to bother watching it
A lot better than the recent ones, but it could have done with being 30 minutes shorter. I actually think that the last 4 episodes could have been condensed to a single episode. I am amazed at how little happens even in a good episode of TWD, especially when compared to other shows (e.g. Game of Thrones, Ray Donovan etc) - I guess that this is mainly down to budget, judging by last weeks effort they make a whole series for the cost of a single GoT scene.
It was a classic near-end-of-season TWD set up episode.
They'll now ignore last night's story line for the next two episodes while they do more set up for the other characters and come back to it for the final episode of the series when the stories converge.
The pacing of the show in general rather spoils it for me, there is so much obvious time-filler content such as long shots of a character wistfully staring in to space while slow music plays, that purports to be in the interest of character development that does entirely fk all to that end.
The show would be better as a 30 minute programme.
