One my all time favourite films.

One of those that Hollywood would have got so wrong.

I Come With The Rain - Bit of an arty private investigator movie set in Hong Kong, so lots of cityscape shots and neon lighting. Oh, and a fair bit of Radiohead music as well.

"Mad Dogs and Englishmen". Saw it on TV ages ago. Didn't get the best reviews but I was gripped. The twist at the end properly knocked me for six. No one else I know has heard of it.

There was a quotable line in it that made me laugh , something along the line of " I normally charge 200 but I'd kill you for free " or something like that , correct me if I'm wrong .

Primer
I would suggest Primer too. Watched it. Watched it again. Waded through various online explanations only to get more confused.
It reminds me of this remark made by the devil in reference to Fermat's Last Theorem...

"Do you know,” he confided, “not even the best mathematicians on other planets-all far ahead of yours-have solved it? Why, there’s a chap on Saturn-he looks something like a mushroom on stilts-who solves partial differential equations mentally; and even he’s given up.”

It's still a remarkable film made on a microscopic budget and worth a viewing.

I would also suggest "Death Note"

I'm a big fan of this bloke http://sensesofcinema.com/2009/great-directors/aki... one of my favourites is

I love everything about this film, the beautiful monochrome cinematography, the utterly deadpan humour, the obligatory rock and roll band (there's generally one somewhere in every film he makes, whether the plot demands it or not) and the morbidly sullen characters that somehow you can't help but warm to as the story unfolds.

I used to love watching those quirky films on C4/BBC2 usually introduced by Kermode or that other film weirdie.

A lot of great indie sci-fi out there.

A Boy and his Dog
Laputa: Castle in the Sky
Dark City
The Parallax View
Spacehunter, Adventures in the Forbidden ZOne

I have the Arrow BR release of Night of the Comet!

I would buy The Keep if it were available..

Another odd one is a 1986 B-Movie homage, Night of the Creeps, which I ordered on BR from the US, as it's still not available as a UK release!

I've seen that, but other car-interested mates have never heard of it.

"King of the Mountain" is one, about the LA street racing scene.

Absolutely. It's about as far away from a Hollywood film as you can imagine and all the better for it.

Sneakers.

Little remembered, fantastic story and a cast like an Oscars night.

Favourite line? Repeatedly... "My voice is my passport. Verify me."

Best moment? Deliberating how to best to get through a keypad protected door.
