Hello, I am new to the forum. I have just bought my first Fiat car – it’s a 500 .

However, as I am new to the fiat car I was wondering if any Fiat driver could help me out on the following:

In terms of oil – what is the best oil to use? A synthetic or semi synthetic and what would be the best brand?

Many thanks and much appreciated,

The Fiat 500 hand book situated in the glove box should tell exactly what oil to use.

If it's a multiair, they are VERY fussy on the oil used. Make sure it meets all the Fiat required specs.

Thank you - called Halfords and these were the recommended oils:

Castrol 5w40 edge 16.99 for 1 litre
Petronis 5w40 3000av 16.99 for 1 litre
Mobile ow40 gsp formula 19.99 for 1 litre

I assume that I should top up my oil about every 1000miles?
If I travel about 200 miles every week I suppose I should be checking my oil before the start of each journey.
Thank you!

Don't know if there are any that meet your specs... But last night I happened to spot that Tesco have a range of fully synthetic oils at £20 for 4 litres.
