I watched this on the plane last week. To be fair, it's a reasonable way of killing a couple of hours if one stops making comparisons to the books. However, as a big "Reacher" fan, I just struggle to imagine Cruise in the role, so the whole thing falls apart for me.

I want Reacher to be massive; huge; ; assertive; immovable and NOT an A List, as that's who Reacher is. Cruise is not any of those things and that ruins it for me

What a bag of bks.

Also, TC is ridiculous. There's a bit where he's standing there and he looks tiny!

These reviews are a shame. I really enjoyed the first one, but I'll just wait till it comes on Sky movies for an evening filler.

Cruise made a good effort in the first one, far better than expected but really it needs someone else.

The book I reckon is worth making into a film is Make Me, the one where he steps off the train in Mother's Rest.

Tom Cruise has been sacked off for being short by Lee Child, who has also decided to move to Netflix. And is now starting everyone's favourite game of "who should play Reacher in the next film".

Suggestions on a postcard to Mr Child, or maybe just post in this thread as he's probably on PH.

Reacher is described as being 6 feet 5 inches (1.96 m) tall, weighing 210–250 pounds (95–113 kg) and having a 50-inch (130 cm) chest. In Never Go Back, he is described as having "a six-pack like a cobbled city street, a chest like a suit of NFL armor, biceps like basketballs, and subcutaneous fat like a Kleenex tissue." In his youth, his physical appearance likened to that of a 'bulked-up greyhound'. He also reveals that his size is purely genetic; he states in Persuader and Never Go Back that he is not much of an exercise enthusiast.

So are they going to let Dwayne Johnson have a crack at it? Passed over for midget TC.

I fall at the min 95kg hurdle, so that's me out.

I'm not blond either. frown

I reckon Kevin Durand would be a good fit for this.He is naturally thin but he could put on 20 lbs.

Daniel Craig will soon need something to occupy himself

Rumours are that it's going to be Terry (Cutting) Crews.

Chris Helmsworth

Right physique, blonde hair, perhaps a bit too pretty but they could give him a few scars and a crew cut.

He's in danger of being a little typecast too so I reckon this could give him a chance to do something new.

Got to be Dave Bautista, 6 ft 6in, 290lbs and looking for a job after sticking up for James Gunn. Possibly a bit old, but some makeup and that's that sorted.

This looks like Reacher to me.

A bulked Josh Holloway would work.

Depends on the book, the first I read was Killing Floor and he was mid 30's in that, so it's always stuck in my head, DB is 49 so a pretty good age then, go me, Lee, just post the cheque thanks. biggrin

I thought he was meant to be 'old' too, the military officer from Avatar would be god, don't know on height, Hemsworth is wrong, too scrawny and pretty...though he might be a good bet since outside of Thor he's not a money maker.
Dave Bautista is more 6'2, but he looks the part for me, not that a few inches is here or there. Depends how nuanced you want your Reacher to be....
