Anyone else feel that this series feels somewhat squeamish and reluctant to show the natural working of the food chain?
You are probably right but the older I get the softer I get and I hate to see any animal suffer.I understand exactly how nature works and the savagery of it at times but I don't enjoy seeing it.
What this does best is the narrative and amazing photography, what a privilege to see some of these shots.

The hunt, perhaps, but rarely the conclusion of it.
Yep - what happened to all the gore they used to show?? Only good bits were the bat & the bird that impaled its prey on a cactus. But they only showed us the animals AFTER they were impaled - I would've like to have seen the entire process mr_fibuli said:
It depends how cuddly the prey is - they had no problems showing that croc getting its skull crushed by the jaguar last week.
Yes, indeed. I mentioned that at the time (I realise now that this is the second time I've raised the subject) and concluded that since the croc is perceived to be a 'baddie' they considered it just about ok. But, on the whole, this serious does display a sort of cuddly squeamishness that I don't remember wildlife documentaries of old having. I rather suspect this is a comment on modern society.
