Same production crew as behind Top Gear, the chases are always setup.

It looks great, especially in HD, but my only criticism really is that of time - I wanted each segment to run on longer. I bet there's hours of footage that didn't fit.

As an aside, I must say that anything that man says compels you to listen to it - especially when he makes a comment about man having a detrimental effect on wildlife.

That Galapagos snake/iguana whole sequence was amazingly well shot and edited.

And the penguins were brilliant and komodo dragons too.

Just another hour of beautifully shot, carefully narrated and totally immmersive wildlife tv, much as expected.

Felt for the sloth. His face said it all after taking all that time to cross the water only for the smug cow to show him her cub. Still, reckon he dodged a bullet there, I got the feeling she'd be so high maintenance.

Epic television.

However, did anybody else suffer from the audio going "quiet" for a few seconds, a few times during the programme.

Felt sorry for the Crabs, just out for a stroll and Ants attack and spray acid in your eyes blinding you, a long lonely painful death all due to mankind. I imagine with no predators the Ants will eventually wipe out the Crabs?

I would find it very hard to just watch a injured animal (i.e. penguin with broken leg) and not do anything to help/end suffering.

Great TV, terrific production values. But I thought DA has "sold out" all seemed a bit too Disney and ripe for selling into the USA. (thinking about the bird waiting for his mate to return after a 6 month break)

Been that way for awhile; false/imaginary narratives applied to instinctive behaviour. The music also serves to build emotion when none is required.

Silly really. It undermines otherwise sensational work.

But albatross are famed for mating for life so it was exactly what that bird was doing?

And it's hardly fair to call it all that Disney when they show crabs being blinded by acid and dying slow deaths, Komodos taking chunks out of each other, multiple baby iguanas having a horrendous first steps then being eaten alive, penguins being smashed on the rocks (and openly shown dying and with broken legs etc in the add-on bit) and so on. I would have thought it's fairly grisl and shows the harsh reality of life'survival in extreme places.

Much like a bird incubating a broken egg, albatrosses wait out of instinct to further their species.

Not because they miss their true love. hehe

Love in humans is just an emotional dependency which evolved to make you ignore the faults in your partner and stay together to provide a stable environment to bring up kids. It's highly likely birds that pair for life feel similar emotions.
Yes. They're just like us.

So good and unlike Springwatch/Autumnwatch there's no humanising of the subjects. Just raw nature as it should be.

The iguana/snake segment was superb. I was just thinking this morning, when a mamma iguana goes to lay her eggs, does she endure the same dangers?

Too big I think.

Funnily enough I was watching a Jacques Cousteau programme on the Iguanas the previous day.
