That show alone justifies the BBC TV licence fee which I hate paying as there nothing else worth watching most of the time!

I avoided it because there's usually a heap of doom and gloom about how humanity is destroying everything etc etc, rather than just focusing on the wildlife.

Was there much of that this time?

That was amazing as usual.

The racer snakes were bloody scary to watch! I think I shouted 'YES!' Quite loudly when that last little guy made his escape. Proper edge of the seat stuff!

the girls thought I was watching the football !!
Snakes need lunch too. frown

That hour just flew by, really intense viewing. As already stated by most, the snakes were quite incredible, pack-hunting on a whole new level.

+1 on that!!!! I hardly watch the BEEB any more, but David Attenborough is the man; I can't see anyone coming close when he's gone.....

Not really, just mention of the Ants we introduced to Christmas Island which were being nasty to the local crab population.
You should watch it, I still can't believe the snake segment, it's an absolute must see.

I showed Mrs B the snake scene on iPlayer last night as she was working Sunday evening. She completely freaked out - hair standing on end, legs up off the floor, shrieking etc. I don't think she slept very well.... hehe

Fantastic piece of TV, best thing on for a while.

Yup, if the were making a documentary about the travails of trying to survive in a harsh environment as a racer snake, we'd all have been gutted when the pesky iguana got away!

Apparently, (according to the MailOnline), they had loads of footage of returning penguins with broken legs, wings missing, smashed beaks, and in various stages of slow painful death, that they thought the British public just couldn't take. And they were probably right.

In the "diaries" segment at the end of the episode, they did show some blood and also a penguin clearly in distress with a broken leg. But, yes, you are undoubtedly right.

the sight of bloodied penguins was probably too much for some as it was......

Interestingly stuff shown on uk TV around wildlife tends to be a bit softer than animal planet or nat geo - they pretty mush show everything, lion kills, alligator kills, blood, guts, gore the lot...

Echoing all the other posts really, amazing television. As well as the stunning visuals, I really liked the soundtracks, particularly in the much spoken about iguana piece, the music definitely helped add to the trepidation.

How on earth do they film in those territories such as the snake scene? How do they stand around and film without snake attack? How do they film that chase or any scene without disrupting anything? Drone? What're they using to film without bekng seen?
