I'm surprised you're paying that much, I guess it's a couple Multiroom subscriptions or Fibre Pro? I thought we were paying pretty much everything they offer with Sky Q Silver full package and fibre at £133 a month.
Sky Go Extra - including discounts FREE
Sky Multiscreen £12.00
Sky Multiscreen £12.00
Variety with Sports & Cinema HD £80.00
Sky Fibre Unlimited £20.00
Sky Talk Line Rental £17.40
Sky Talk Anytime Extra £8.00

Total £149.40

At least I get Sky go free scratchchin
The two extra boxes do come in at £24 though yeah.
Wow, I had no idea people were paying so much for TV. I currently pay 0, I would rather be outside or in a gym.
Thanks, really valuable input.

Personal video recorder?
Pirate video receiver?
Personal Video Recorder, but in modern speak a "digital set top box". You can of course buy very simple devices from Argos and such like, or there are some really sophisticated linux based devices which are capable of doing some more interesting stuff.

For the real techies I have a VU+ Solo 4k with quad tuners and a 1tb hard disk. In my man cave I've got a VU+ Solo SE with a motorised dish. I'm running Black Hole as I found it more stable than Vix. The wife has got used to the EPG (which SKY really excels at) and she can record all the stuff she had before with a little effort.

I finally called today, been putting it off as I knew it wasn't going to be a quick call.
It's now down to £87 (from £149) although that does include binning one of our Sky boxes (we don't need it really as the extra channels it provides were hardly ever used)) so I'm pleased enough with that.
Maybe I could have got it cheaper if I'd cancelled but while talking she offered a deal that included some TV functions (pause, rewind, record etc) and 'some' channels that actually came in less than if I just had the phone and broadband so I think I'd have looked daft (and they probably knew my 'game' anyway) if I'd said to just cancel all TV but keep the phone & broadband.
Did you just ask for a discount or did you have to mention canceling?

I'm going to give them a call soon and see what they will do but I'm a bit rubbish at dealing with them so will probably end up upgrading my normal broadband (which at 15mbs is perfectly fine for my needs) and taking out fibre and a dozen Sky Q boxes some how!

You dont mention cancelling, you have to cancel. Then the calls from the winback team happen.

If you actually let the TV go off then you can get better deals as that proves you are 'serious'.

This. You will get calls almost daily during the cool down month so unlikely you will lose TV at all. However if you do refuse all deals the best ones are in the month after cancelling.

I just kept saying to cancel but as I said they offered me the following:
Phone/Broadband : £45'ish a month
Phone/Broadband/TV with 'some' channels and the ability to record, pause etc : £40'ish a month

I'd have looked a bit daft to keep saying I'd cancel as I'd be paying more per month for less. That when they started offering various deals, I was close to saying yes to one till she started reading it out and I realised there was no HD for Sports, this pissed me off and it was at this point I did actually say forget it, just cancel it all. She asked why and i pointed out I didn't want to be paying for something but not getting what you really want, in my case if I'm watching sports then I want to see it in HD. She could understand that and the next offer she came up with included everything that I wanted.
If you can actually leave though for a few weeks then yes I would imagine that is the best way to go.

I've had no calls at all and it's 2 days until my subscription ends.

I did have a web chat with them yesterday and got to 60% discount.

However, I wanted a deal on Sky Q but this was flatly refused.

I'm in two minds now whether to just let it lapse and see what I'm offered or accept the 60% discount for 12 months.

If you want Q then hold out. As soon as your contract is cancelled they'll only be able to offer you a Q contract.

How quickly do they reconnect you if you let the service lapse?

No idea, but Q needs to be installed so there's usually a 2-3 week wait on an engineer slot.

Generally hours. The order is processed, the authorisations are added to the stream and your box picks it up.

I cancelled sky tv approx 4 months ago, still use their ASDL/line rental service which comes in around £24~ a month. Not missed Sky at all, they have now sent a letter saying they are re-enabling the record/pause facility and some channels for the next 6 months, still not going to use it, freesat is good enough.

Don't bother if you want the extension boxes. Unreliable POS. Useful for keep fit though, running up & downstairs once a week resetting boxes!

I use my mini box pretty much every day, haven't had any real issues, especially since the last update. Couldn't imagine going back to the old slow ugly UI.

I have SkyQ in 2 properties and they are both as bad as each other. Lots of freezing, losing connection and ongoing resets.
