What can I say ... if you're going to threaten to quit then make sure you're ready to actually quit (LPT: Also applies to jobs).

If you just wanted a discount, then 50% for 12 months was pretty damn good just for a couple of phone calls. That would have been the point to accept the offer.

I don't blame them for giving you a worse deal when you phone up asking to be resubscribed almost the moment your service ends.
You misunderstand me. I wasn't seeking sympathy. I am very well aware it's a calculated risk and you're not guaranteed to get any particular deal just because you give notice. I posted simply by way of counterpoint to the perceived wisdom that Sky will offer you better deals as your notice period comes to an end or to win you back. That doesn't seem necessarily to be the case any more - or perhaps only if you're a bigger spender than I am.

As it happens, the difference between 40% and 50% is £4 or so a month, so not much in the scheme of things and I'm not bothered by that. I'm still 40% better off than I was before.

(FWIW, personally I'd have had no problems walking away. I can get the stuff I watch elsewhere. SWMBO and LL Jr were less sanguine at the prospect though....)

Were you also the box set package (£38 a month?). No change from the 40% for 12 months for me at the mo but it's only been a day or two.

Ready to switch to BT TV at only £12.50 a month if not!

Yup - box sets and free Kids App (which Sky have now acknowledged should have remained free on resubbing).

Do post up whether you have any more success than I did, in due course!

I was going to laugh at your situation, but I will be nicer with a little help.

Head along to your local shopping center, usually you will find a sky bloke there who can offer very good discounts for you.

Had an email from Sky today trying to tempt me back...

SKy Sports Bundle for £20 per month for 12 months. It mentions football and F1 so presumably that's all the Sports channels.

Anyone know exactly what that includes? The link just takes me to a phone number or live chat link but having a 2 year old round my legs I've not been able to do either.

Where actually are these offers that are meant to appear on your mysky account after cancelling?

Do they pop up, or show as a new message or something, it is it done off a link in an email?

Just cancelled mine, currently have variety bundle at 32 quid a month. Previously cancelled my extra multiroom subscription.

They offered 31.50 including multiroom on an 18 month contract. Apparently they no longer do 12 month contracts anymore. I declined, so will wait to see if I get anything better, but if someone can tell me where the offers appear, that would be great smile

Just coming to the end of my 60% discount so cancelled via live chat. Second offer they made was 60% off for another year plus a £10 admin fee. I guess I could have held out for more but this way I get uninterrupted service.

Full package Inc Cinema and HD sports for £34 pm so happy with that for another year

Finally got sorted today after holding out for a good few weeks, 60% off TV with full sports and movies included plus unlimited fibre optic broadband along with line rental (no call packages) for £52 all in. TV is 12 months and 12 month contract but the broadband is 18 months on an 18 month contract. Pushed to try and get £100 pre paid MasterCard thrown in like advertised on the Sky website but couldn't get it.

TV switched on within 2 mins and phone/broadband will be 2-3 weeks but they said only a 20-30 mins loss of service.

Very pleased with that but it seems to be getting more and more difficult to secure the deal each time it expires.

EDA - just noticed that they haven't included HD on the sports the cheeky monkeys!

How did the second offer come about? Did they offer a percentage off on the website when you login to your account, then the second offer was when u did online chat?

Trying to see how long to wait before I login to the account or try my luck on chat...

I never got anything on either the app or on the my offers section of my online account. I just went on live chat after receiving the offer in the post. Might be worth a punt telling them you have received the sky.com/offer50 or sky.com/offer60 through the post. I used to think they we're going to be sat there rubbing there hands together when I contacted them but in reality nobody seems really arsed.

Anybody out there work for sky? Seems pot luck to me what deals you get when.

Both offers were made during the online chat when I said I wanted to cancel.

I was also told about the VIP scheme I was eligible for so I can order a free film from Skystore and get the DVD too.

I would always go to live chat where possible as it's easier than phone.

I have not paid full price for over 15 years now but this time was the easiest ever to negotiate as I normally have to actually lose Sky for a week or 2 before they offer the 60,%

Opposite of my experience this time round. There doesn't seem to be any pattern at all, I've been about 10 years without paying full price and this is the first time I have come to the point of having it actually cut off for more than an odd day or so and it took 3-4 goes at getting the deal whereas before they have crumbled quickly. I wonder if it's because I went with Now TV PAYG after I was cut off so they aren't as bothered with it being the same company.

Cancelled this month, have been paying £39/month for unlimited fibre, phone line and TV box sets (essentially everything was half price for 12 months on my last bill). Been with sky 9 years.

When phoning up to cancel they offered the same package at £46/month, not much more than now, but they couldn't do anything on line rental. Made sure to clarify the total amount per month. Waited next day for the updated bill, it was £10/month more than agreed. Phoned up and told, despite being on the notes what had been confirmed over the phone, it had been a mistake and they could only offer the more expensive price of £56 there and then. Alternatively they could offer a £50 credit but everything would be full price, which would obviously be more expensive overall! Nothing more could be done so cancelled everything.

Been checking online, offered 40% off TV but dropped to 30% now! Wanted Q but does t appear to be any offers on this. Thinking of just letting it lapse and getting a freesat box. Have also gone with Vodafone for fibre at £25 all in (fibre and line), plus no admin/connection fees and a free Sonos play 1.

I just went through the Sky cancellation rigmarole. I've been with them for a few years and have the full Sports/Cinema/Box sets package at £118 per month (inc fibre broadband).

Was offered 40% discount on the TV package, £5 off fibre broadband and a Sky Q 2TB box and router (for £65), which I went for.

Not as cheap as I'd like, but it's cheaper than I was paying, and didnt really want to cancel anyway. Plus I have a fancy new box thing that i was considering buying anyway

Is that 40% off the Sky Q subscription? Any install challenge other than the £65 for the kit?

I cancelled yesterday, was offered Sky Q with free install and kit (VIP black - I've been paying thru the nose for decades!) with about 15% discount on what I pay now (full package and multi room). I carried on the cancellation, rightly or wrongly, because I did say I was looking to reduce my costs more.

No offers yet but I'll keep monitoring My Sky and emails. Does the offer they made remain I wonder?

For info, I was offered 30%, then 40% on online chat, then called today from a special dept in sky apparently that do super special offers. bks biggrin

She offered 50%, I declined, said make it 60% and I would consider it. Spoke to her mgr, usual bullst, came back with they can offer 50% with a credit of £40 so the overall saving over the term is 60%.

Was driving at the time so asked for them to call me back in 10 mins, as it's an outbound call centre only, but was told no. I said shove it so she did the mgr thing again, came back again, still the same, so I said fine my cancellation remains.

She did the I will speak to my mgr a third time, but with dodgy signal and her pissing about, I left it there, expecting a call back later, but nothing.

Just been on online chat, they acknowledged a 50% offer but said online their maximum credit they can give is 25 quid and I should try calling them.

Wtf?! They offer different things online or on the phone. Sky are a bunch of cocks. To be honest I'm tempted to try now TV or an equivalent and let my cancellation complete.

Had the same, Sky phoned and offered 50%, said no. Tried online chat out of curiosity the other day and they couldn't offer the previous 50%, 40% max unless I phoned (and even then no guarantee). I have no issue cancelling tbh but it will mean either getting a freesat box or getting an aerial fitted (never needed it due to having Sky).

As above I think they confuse themselves with their own offers. When the £20 a month for Sports Bundle email arrived I did a live chat and they'd never heard of that offer.

They still phone me weekly since leaving and I occasionally listen. Telling them that we left because until a few months back we were enjoying their '£25 for the complete TV package' offer seems to shut them up, they can't get close to that any more. They also give up quickly when you say you've moved to Now TV.
