well what a shame it's taken me this long to 'find' NetFlix. Turns out my stepdaughter got herself a subscription which has given me access too, I'm totally gobsmacked at the variety (and what would appear to be quality) available. There are actually more series/films/documentaries than I suspect you could watch in a normal month of sundays.

Kinda makes Sky seem poor value at this point

I'm sure I read a stat a couple of weeks ago that stated by the end of this year, Netflix will have more subscribers in America than all the other cable companies put together.

Yes. Netflix is value but it doesn't have everything.

That said it isn't expensive. I have gone for combining Netflix with Amazon Prime. There's enough stuff between the two of them you always have shows and films to watch.

I am debating with the Mrs whether or not adding Now TV tas a third streaming service would allow us to bin our Sky Box.

What it offers for the money is simply amazing, it's not good enough for me to cancel Sky (mainly due to better box sets) and there is some complete and utter st on Netflix but the good stuff is steadily improving with a few must watch films/documentaries/series

Check the Netflix thread on here but anything that's a Netflix original is a good place to start

The only thing that keeps me on sky is the live sport like F1 and some others. I'm seriously considering cancelling it for the first time in 16 years.

Netflix Amazon prime and illegal streaming seems to get me everything I like apart from live F1 and cricket.

I'm sticking with the completely legit services. They're good enough and cheap enough now that there's little temptation to visit the Bay where those Pirates dwell.

You can even now watch The Expanse on Netflix UK (best new Sci Fi show in years). I wondered why SyFy hadn't picked it up. Turns out is was a Netflix Original. they sold the rights in the US but not here....

not far off my views TBH. That being said NetFlix does worry me a little WRT their regional locking and some stuff that we can't get over here...

Kodi and exodus is the answer if you want to avoid the regional locking.

Cancelled sky beginning of the year, not missed it. Only get free to view channels now. Only for the mrs. Pretty much lost all interest in tv these days but that's just me getting more miserable by the week.

Amazon and Netflix occasionally that's it.

I've been having lots of problems with Netflix lately. Half way through watching something and it suddenly freezes, shows 25% and won't reconnect. It's not my internet as Amazon works ok. Been happening every 3-4 days

I like Netflix, but i wish they'd do something about their aweful menu - it's like scrolling through with blinkers on, by the time you do find something to watch it's time to go to bed! Too many weirdly titled categories, i mean whats the difference between 'suspense films' and 'exciting films' ffs! smile

Sky was costing us too much for too little. I cancelled it years ago in favour of downloads however I knew it would be unsustainable in the long term. But buying Amazon Prime was a no brainer once I worked out how much I'd been spending on Amazon postage.

I haven't found any justification to buy Netflix yet, and given that I also like GoT which is shown on Sky Atlantic, I will have to accept that downloads are a necessity for now.

For GoT you could just subscribe to NowTV for 3 or 4 months.

Live F1 and Cricket can be found quite easily, especially on KODI.

But not Netflix NZ sadly, as yet. crazy. Most people here seem to run proxies and use the US service

It's a shame but a decent proxy costs as much as your average streaming service...

I have Netflix, Prime and bought a NowTV box recently, mainly for The Wire and Westworld.

Very impressed with NowTV, if you buy the 2/3/6 month cards on eBay it provides very good value and gives access to a decent, high quality, back catalogue and the new stuff shown on Atlantic, Discovery etc. The movie selection is also decent.

The sports packages are quite expensive but I don't need it.

If you mainly have Sky for Atlantic and movies you'd probably not miss it, especially if you generally don't watch live.

Yep, been with Netflix a few years now and it's really opened by eyes - £7 or whatever, great choice and no ads - kind of staggering considering Sky want £40 if you strip away the telephone / internet stuff and bombard you with ads.

I always said that once we got Fibre I'd ditch Sky and I've done just that, moving day is Friday, 100Mbps Fibre already up and running at the new place.

Whilst Netflix is good, it's no way enough to have alone, but between Netflix, NowTV (which is Sky, ITV and C4) Iplayer, and My5 (I've only just remembered Channel 5 and I don't want to miss Intercepters) I can stream everything Sky was giving me for £80, for £33 a month, and don't have to suffer half the adverts.

I'll lose my F1 'legacy package' but it was never going to last forever and I'm pretty much over F1 now, I might pay a bit more and start watching MotoGP again instead.

Thanks for posting. In fact we do use Sky for Atlantic (Game of Thrones), never "live" we always record and playback, and we typically we just buy movies we'd like to see on iTunes if we can't wait or they come free on Netflix/Amazon Prime.

Really need to get this done. It'll save about fifty quid a month.
