The Grand Tour
Discussion
I thought I'd give it a few episodes before forming a view but after watching the third I'm not really impressed. It's all quite forgettable so far. Beyond the opening sequence there have been no "did you see that bit..." moments to discuss at work the next day.
I can't see any value from the tent, and although their conversations have had a few amusing moments, it all feels aimless and unecessary.
As somebody posted earlier, I was expecting the bigger budget to mean each episode would basically be a 'special', so it's been surprising to see all these baffling features like The American and the celebrity stuff. Those big, one-off episodes were what made the show it was, and I assumed it was only the BBC's budget stopping them from making a full series of them.
When I saw they called it The Grand Tour it seemed perfect. They now had the budget to make a dedicated travel/adventure/car show.
It doesn't look like it's going to be any of those things, sadly.

I'm really enjoying The Grand Tour so far.
I thought Top Gear had become a bit dull - it wasn't really a car show or an entertainment show, trapped in between them. So far my take on The Grand Tour;
Episode 1 - Great car show - enjoyable reviews and cocking about in amazing cars.
Episode 2 - Great entertainment show - no cars just lots of 3 blokes cocking about. I laughed a lot.
Episode 3 - Good mix of cars and entertainment - love the Aston.
I thought Episode 2 was just funny, the Homage to action films was great. I love a good bit of things exploding, and especially like the film Live, Die, Repeat - they chucked in some Platoon. I properly laughed watching it, especially the abseiling out the chopper!! My 13 year old daughter also sat and watched all of it. I liked the fact it didn't really pretend to be a car show, it was just silly.
Fridays was a nice mix. Don't know how long they can keep it up before it starts to get boring (celebrity brain drain is an example) - but so far it is fun and I'm enjoying it more than the end of Top Gear.

I'm within my Prime trial and got to say......I think I'm out.
Disappointing on a number of levels for me.
I really like Prime and bought an Amazon Fire TV which I also like. Disappointing on a number of levels for me.
Is there a better hassle free alternative which gives so much for so little without taking money out of the pockets of those who earn a living by entertaining us?
Watched ep3 and found it to be the best so far. Maybe because they click with a uk audience better than US or SA audiences in the other 2 episodes. Maybe cos they had a road trip. Maybe just because it appealed to me more than the first two. Maybe because there was no disappointing new track this week. Maybe because the only American was a car this week, rather than a bloated gobby driver.
Anyway, best so far IMO. Good balance of cocking about and cars.

Episode 3 had some lovely photogrpahy in it. Episode 2 was just dire, an hour of trite self-indulgence.
I'm finding this show a bit underwhelming. Like many have posted on here, I'd hoped for the show and format to have moved on a step, undergone a reinvention. It really hasn't and that's a wasted opportunity.

This weeks was much better than last weeks and I did laugh at the Simon Pegg death bit!
Yes, thought this one was excellent. It was at that point I turned it off. I'll not bother watching any more. I think Amazon have cocked up here. They've bought a tired old show thats told it's few jokes one too many times.
Loved the Italian tour, couldn't stand the US car, might be powerful but very ordinary definitely a blue collar car. Loved the Dawn but wouldn't have it in blue (I can dream!), the Aston was awesome a real GT car.... cocking around in cars, and ribbing Hamster... back to the old days of TG!!!
BUT we do need something new in this series (certainly not a fat gobby Yank) to give it an edge over the old TG...

Rather easier to start the Prime trial than to cancel it if memory serves.Disappointing on a number of levels for me.

As complicated as going into your Amazon settings and cancelling Prime, takes a couple of seconds.
In fact you can start prime and cancel it immediately, then you'll get it for 1 month. My thoughts on this week's episode: in general I liked it but again there was only one feature which seemed overly long. They turn up in 3 cars at the start of each episode -- why can't they wheel them into the tent and do a 5 minute piece on them?

Only happens once a series, we are only 3 episodes in.
In TG maybe...In GT we've been told they have a massive budget...surely the clue should be in the programme title?
It's not called the "The exagerated, tired, over used used jokes week after week"....not quite as catchy...
