I give a toss about what the Guardian thinks. You just crack on and enjoy your download without trying and failing to denigrate the finest free UK-based news website available.
The guardian is crap, just like every other media outlet on planet earth.

So far.
Ep1
Ep4
Ep3
Ep2
I'd agree with that order.

At the moment I think the show is on a bit of a learning curve so it will settle with time. They need to learn to work with the new format while trying not to upset the BBC lawyers but still keep their new bosses happy so it's a fine balance and I'm sure they will get there.

Improvements for me would be to drop that celebrity death bit, it's pointless.
Find a new track, get one in America if needed, because the new one is terrible compared to the old one. A runway is much better for doing the challenges etc. especially noticeable having watched an old one today with the old BL cars full of water.
2 bonus things for me is get a better racing driver and force Hammond to shave that terrible beard off.

Just watched episode four and had a good laugh, its possibly the weakest of the four so far but still great entertainment.

Enjoyed this weeks show. Suggest that if you didn't, you should probably stop watching all together.

I also don't think watching it at 00:20 in the morning when it's just released is the best idea in the world.

Finest news site?

Quote from that article: "Nevertheless, when Clarkson, Hammond and May found themselves cast off"

However Hammond and May were not cast off, BBC pleaded for them to stay but they elected to leave...

Let them have their little whinge....we'll just crack on and enjoy the programme.
Trouble is the guardian is right, I was expecting top gear +++ with the budget and it is a bit lame, just like Top Gear on BBC. The programme is too scripted and dull, last week Hammonf was the arse, this week James with his "car", the tent bits are just bland, nothing about cars coming out now as it was filmed ages ago, no interaction with the audience, what is the point?

I came into it expecting exactly the same as TG, so you can see why I'm happy with it smile

The writer wants the show to fail and thinks he can make people's minds up for them that it's rubbish and they shouldn't watch it.

The first series of New Top Gear can be pretty agonising at times as you watch it back, especially Jeremy trying to get a bit of spark out of Jason Dawe and probably resenting the fact James May wasn't chosen instead for that series.

I suspect the Americans at Amazon are perhaps a little wary of improvisation and want everything scripted and rehearsed, but people are maybe in danger of over analysing everything or looking to follow a crowd that thinks it's too cool for the show.

I watch it for 2 reasons - amazing cars filmed beautifully being put through their paces and reviewed - for example it was fascinating listening to Clarkson talk about the M4 GTS, who'd have thought BMW would produce such a dog (according to Clarkson) and the genuine banter between the three (mainly Clarkson and May as Hammond has always been a presenter rather than a journalist.) Thats why I could live with the tedious Hammond-is-such-a-yob-in-his-American-Musclecar in ep 3, there were enough moments of genuine (at least what seemed like genuine) banter and laughter. I ff through all the bits I am not interested in - the "comedy" chat, celebrity stunts and ridiculous pieces like the special forces bit.

Just give me unscripted genuine chat about cars or car related stuff. I fear that now they have this mega budget that they won't go back to the budget bangers stuff. All they have to do is just get a crew to follow them around - enter a few genuine races - remember that endurance race with the BMW 330, or the Italian Supercar for less that £10k??. I realise that they can't do this every week but when was the last time they did anything as good as those ones I've mentioned?

I don't think so. He pretty much shares my views of it and I was looking forward to it; signed up to prime to get it.

I'm hoping the special later in the series is more 'Polar special' than 'India special'.

+1 The Guardian totally nails what is wrong with GT. Less acting, more bickering please.

I agree with what he says about it all being a bit overacted and not really seizing an opportunity to do something fresh, but saying now that we'll see it die a death is more than a little premature.

True. I think there's a good chance it'll be around until they want to stop.

Bit dim that neither CHM were wearing the fitted racing harnesses during the race considering none of the cars had doors...
