When our 4K telly gets delivered on Thursday I expect I'll be able to tell you what they're like on the 3rd watch through as well
(awaits fanboy comments, as clearly that's the only reason anyone likes The Grand Tour)
Well I doubt it' the only reason...but a 3rd watch ?! wowsers. Fair play to you Bodhi. (awaits fanboy comments, as clearly that's the only reason anyone likes The Grand Tour)

Celebrity Brain Crash is awful, such a waste.
CBC is my 9-year-old daughter's favourite bit of the show. Not only does she find it funny (I don't, with the exception of the Kimi Raikonnen one which I fell off the sofa laughing at), but she 'gets' that they are deliberately not wasting 20 minutes of the program talking to someone the way that 'weird guy' in the other Top Gear did. That's the beauty of CHM - they know how to appeal to a wide audience, unlike a certain 'weird guy' who thought he knew.

So, which is worse, ‘new’ Top Gear, or ‘The Grand Tour’?
What does everyone think?
TGT is generally good but has its issues, but its nothing in comparison to how bad new TG was. What does everyone think?
I totally gave up on it half way through the series, I just didn't enjoy any of what I saw.
I would pick TGT out of those two every time.

you fell off the chair laughing at a GT joke...
How well does your 9 year old daughter use the word st now? she'll be one of the more advanced children at school I guess being one of the first to shout it in the playground
"Daddy why are they throwing round those toys that mummy likes?"

TGT 3/10
nTG 5/10

I think that says more about you than anything (the inference being that you think a nine-year old would know what a sex-toy is, rather than just perceiving it as a rubber model of a 'man's bit').The Kimi thing was hilarious IMO and I'm entitled to that, but if you want to turn this back into a slanging match about me again then I'm out.

Well that sums it up all rather well

It does sum it up rather well. Amazingly enough, different people find different things amusing - I didn't find Bottom especially funny, however I can't recall using that as an excuse to dig the long legged horse out. you fell off the chair laughing at a GT joke...

I'd also probably suggest that they don't use any words on the show that your average 9 year old doesn't know already - Christ by the time I was 9 I'd even figured out how to use those words properly!

But keep going if you want, you might even be able to get admin involved again.

Mine's even smart enough to know that she shouldn't be using them!

oh and btw you brought in the idea that a 9 year old would "know" what a sex toy was...
Quite an insight that you could fall off a chair laughing at tGT but have such a massive sense of humour failure here... indeed.
Glad your children are exposed to adult behaviour and language anyway, but the know how and where not to show it or use it.
tGT target demographic becomes clearer...

It was you, but you are either being deliberately contrary or you don't actually appreciate what you posted earlier.I was innocently making the point that an element of TGT that someone has criticised in here does actually have an appeal to a different demographic, demonstrating that the makers of the show know how to broaden their appeal, and you tried to turn it into a 'think of the children' exercise.

nTG - I expected it to suffer in comparison to oTG but there wasn't all that much wrong with it; CE was the wrong man for the job, the rallycross track was a mistake and the guest segment too long, but I found LeBlanc, Harris & Reid likeable & watchable and thought the aftershow was a good idea. With a bit of fine tuning, time for the presenters to gel and the confidence to try some new ideas it could become a good programme in its own right.
tGT - I had high hopes for something fresh, perhaps with a little added maturity & style, given the advancing age of the presenters. I anticipated visits to interesting parts of the world, perhaps learning something about differing attitudes to cars & driving, maybe some historical & cultural background, all with a smattering of jolly automotive japes. In 10 episodes there have been maybe 3 watchable segments, the rest has been relentlessly unfunny & tedious.
We have seen that CH&M are all individually capable of making good TV, in this case it feels like they simply couldn't be bothered to try.

Trouble is there are certain things they can't do as it would be too much like Top Gear, and they don't want be sued by the BBC, who paid Clarkson very handsomely for the rights. 12 million IIRC. Why they couldn't/didn't buy the rights back is a mystery.
I would not be at all surprised if they did not do such,in offering to buy the rights back . BBC then refusing, thinking they could reboot TG with Evans. As we all know, a catostrophic failure. Seems to have gone very quiet about NTG, but its not impossible if its another Evans type disaster, that messers CHMW, will be able to buy the brand/rights etc off the Beeb for a lot less than they sold it for. Self and family all really like TGT , so its incidental really, but I cannot be alone in wondering to what extent over content CHMW are restricted owing to the Beeb's lawyer's.
