I thought this episode was one of their best so far...

I just watched it now.

It wasn't a bad episode. The "steering knob" gag was actually quite funny, as it slowly hove into view. Likewise the squeaky frog.

The studio segments weren't too bad either - they definitely seem to be improving. Perhaps Clarkson, May and Hammond are becoming better actors with practise?

The Maserati film started out well, but got very silly and predictable when they got to the port which rather spoiled it all; it had been going fairly well up to that point.

Overall, watchable enough but not brilliant.

Pretty convinced May has been barred form saying "Oh cock" however, that has been conspicous by its absence.
I think in the lead up to the launch one of them (May or Wilman?) pretty much said that phrase, oh cock, was out of bounds.
Yes - the BBC ended up with the word 'cock' and Paul Hollywood in some spectacular deals last year hehe
(I love the Beeb as an institution btw).

Hang on. People signed up to Amazon Prime, just for TGT? That's like never watching or listening to anything by the BBC again because Top Gear was crap. There's plenty of other good things you can use Prime for.

I thought this weeks' episode was OK, the Abarth is a decent looking steer. The Maserati challenge seems like it was hashed together at the last minute though.

I enjoyed it.

You could see the knob joke coming from miles away, but who cares, it was still amusing. Just like TG, but without SIARPC or any daft variant thereof.

Enjoyed that episode, quite want Jeremy's BiTurbo too! Didn't have any problem with the 'action film' driving Hammond was doing, it's all obviously not real that it's fine to have a bit of enjoyment. Most disappointing bit for me was James' end, I felt like he should have just won, no drama.

It was good in bits again today. Good review of the Fiat 124 and some of the Maserati feature was good.

The opening chat has been covered so many times it can't be original to anyone. Even Top Gear done all the invention stuff before. They desperately need fresh ideas.

Brain Crash was a waste of time again.

Did one person fail to see what was coming when James needed assistance on his steering wheel? Too predictable.

Worth a watch and one of the best in the series so far. 6/10.

+1

Cancelling Prime just because you have decided you don't like TGT is a bit silly in my opinion.

Since signing up to Prime I have discovered that there are loads of excellent series worth watching. Man in the high Castle, Bosch, Mr Robot, Goliath, and loads more. They are worth the fee alone never mind all the movies.

Have a look at the 'Amazon Prime Gems' thread if more info is required smile

Agree 100%. Complete nail on head statement.

HOWEVER, I'm pretty pissed off at Hammond for stating (very clearly and making a huge point of) that the MX5 doesn't come with an LSD. It fking well does. I've had mine sideways more times than I care to remember. Can't believe Hammond got this so wrong?!

Not a great start, I've never thought of Andy Murray as anything other than an annoying wker.

Did they mention Clarkson once dropping a skip on a BiTurbo because it was "everything a Maserati shouldn't be" or something along those lines. Always thought they were a very cool little car.

That sums it up for me. Was going Ok right up to the end part. I really hoped they'd do it "properly" well at least not ridiculously. I wanted May to have hired a chinook or something. Hammond to take the ferry and Clarkson on a hovercraft. An actual proper finale rather than just 10 mins of fannying around. Like they used to do with their races.

I suspect "Races" have been vetoed by the BBC though.

I was thinking that the American crap as it is, is a shame since he obviously can drive a bit.

7/10 Watchable old TG

I remember him dropping a skip on a BiTurbo years ago as well. So the turnaround is interesting.

Did like JCs BiTurbo though. Good looking car!

I found Prime material worrse than Netflix. Netflix has better original content, tv series and the odd decent film.

Amazon Prime is a bit of a false economy when it comes to buying online. I've been buying on Amazon since 2002, but in the last couple of years I've often found other sites and stores cheaper
e.g. Argos, PC World, Book Depository and so on, and that's including convenience of pick up or free delivery. I used to be a Prime member and found I didn't save much in reality.

I'm also irked by annoying offers and prices that are Prime only. You see a good offer on the front page, go to add it then it says it's Prime only. This just alienates the 80% of shoppers that aren't Prime members and has certainly deterred me away.

I'm starting to dislike the Amazon experience. It used to be simple, quick and cheap. They're too big for their own good and barely pay tax which helps them undercut everyone else...

And to answer the thread. Grand Tour is interminable and the 5 or so episodes I watched were tolerated rather than enjoyed. I don't spend a great deal of time watching TV and given the massive amount of quality shows out there, I canned TGT weeks ago. If people enjoy it, good for them, but it didn't entertain me at all and is living off it's past glories.

Im glad this is on the net, it means i can skip most of the rubbish bits. Took me 20 mins to watch the latest episode. It's no different to top gear, bit long in the tooth.

Is it an audience thing? This one was filmed in the UK and, other than the heavily scripted bits, was pretty enjoyable. But maybe that's because it was made 'for' the British audience.

Is it possible that they aren't st, but are actually very good at appealing to a local interest, without realising that they have a global audience?

Think the studio bits are getting better.

Hoy hitting a mine was a missed opportunity for Nessy to make an appearance.

Maser challenge started off ok, then they phoned it in at the end. Lazy.
